Pictures and Metadata reload from scratch on every startup
Hello,
I'm using Capture One 8.3.2.12 Express for Sony as I started to use RAW pictures instead of jpeg. Before I just used Windows Photo Galery 2012 to manage my photos and was completely satisfied with its performance. Unfortunately it is not able to show the Sony *.arw files so my Idea was to use the catalog of C1 for managing my pictures.
I imported all my pictures (about 12000) to C1 by keeping them on the current location. All photos are stored on a NAS and the first import took about 4 hours which is absolutly okay for me. But what is really annoying is that C1 now takes up to 10 minutes every startup to reload all pictures and metadata when "All photos" (I hope this is the correct translation, I use the german version...) is selected. So I can see the metadata counter in the filter view increasing and how the pictures are added to the browser. While it is loading I see a small orange indicator in the status bar of the browser.
I tried the different settings for loading metadata under the pictures tab but it seems that it doesn't have an effect.
So my question is: Is this reloading normal? Why does it take so much time. Isn't the metadata stored inside the catalog?
In Windows Photo Galery all photos and metadata is available immediatly after startup. And it is not "professional"...
Best regards
Jens

Where have you stored the catalog (folder with the database). Is it also on the NAS or on a local hard drive. If on NAS, copy (or move) it to the internal hard drive and open the copy.
I assume you check the metadata sync setting in Preferences, but you set it to None.0 -
Thank you for your reply.
The catalog is on my local harddisk (no SSD). And yes, I tried all three types of "Metadata reloading" but didn't recognize any difference. Is it common, that the metadata loads on every startup (Keyword counters are increasing when "All photos" is selected)?0 -

No, it is not. I suggest you contact support on this as it seems out of band behavior.0
