Perhaps you still run an early version of CO 6. Later releases added more tools.
General advice: stay current with updates to take advantage of improvements.0 -
Local adjustments do not allow the use of all tools and can restrict the tool features that are available. I assume that in part the restrictions are logical - in that it would not make sense to apply some sub'features of a tool - or are related to some technical challenge and development requirement to make non-included tools work usefully or are simply on a future development list according to the likely needs of users as digital photo systems progress.
What may be slightly confusing until one realises what is happening is that if you select a Local adjustment layer the functional restrictions will be applied without any immediately obvious warning advice and it takes a while (I found) for this to become subconscious knowledge. Maybe I am just a slow learner!
Yes the signs are there but they don't leap out at you from the screen.
If you select the Local Adjustments tool tab you will, assuming it has the default entries, see only the tools that are available. The tools will work in the same way if they appear in other tabs or you have them floating and some of them will have restricted functionality when used in a layer, sharpening being the most obvious tool with some restrictions.
However I don't see any limits to the sliders in the exposure tool in recent releases - I started with V6 at 6.3 if I recall correctly.
I hope this is useful in some way.

The only tools that are usable with local adjustments are exposure, color editor, sharpness, moire and clarity,if you want to use other tools you must select background layer and deselect the local adjustment box, hope in the future all or must tools will allow local adjustments. 0 -

Hi,
the first thing I noticed that the OP is in the exposure correction tab. I don't know why the tools of local adjustments appear in this tab. But perhaps the solution is as simples as that to change to the local adjustment tab (brush symbol). Then the working sequence is creating an adjustment layer, then painting with the brush over the aera where correction are to be made (check whether brush is visible or not) and finally the settings in the adjustment tab can be changed. Hope this helps to slove the problem.0 -

You do not need to select the Local Adjustments tool tab to use the tools in a layer. The tool is the same on the 'regular' tool tabs like Color and Exposure tool tabs. For example, you can also work from the Color tool tab with the Color Editor in a layer.
As I suggested in my first reply to the OP, he was probably using CO Pro 6.0, as this release had only the Exposure tool available in the layer, while more tools were incrementally added in later releases.0 -
You could very well be correct, this may be an earlier version that did not support some of the later tools,to bad we can't get any feed back from the OP,it looks like he drag the adjustment layer tool tab into the exposure tab then added additional tools to the adjustment layer that it does not support like S/H,curves,levels,the simple solution is to come out of the exposure tab and go directly to the adjustment layer tab above and see what tools are available. 0 -
I'm experiencing the same problem with 6.4 and the latest, 6.4.3 on Windows 7. When I create an adjustment layer then select the layer none of the colour editing tools are available. The colour balance, colour editor (both basic & advanced tabs) and white balance are all greyed out.

You have to pick a color using the colorpicker which is active on the Advanced and Skintone tabs after you brush in an area to be adjusted. 0 -

Yeah I'm aware of that. To follow up I think it's a bug in Capture One. In my current version of the image I can't get the color editor to work. I created a new variant and I was able to paint an adjustment layer and the color editor worked. I think the original varient's meta-data was corrupted some how.0 -

This doesn't seem to be right as a New Variant would be a direct copy of the original Metadata. If you could create a support case and provide the file we can look into it further. If the issue is repeatable with any file then perhaps there is an issue with your specific installation of C1, we can look into that through a support case as well.0
