Help....My Mac not importing images
Excuse my ignorance as a first time P1 user, hopefully I have a very simple issue to solve.
My Mac/Capture One is not finding the images on my CF card, when I attach the back via firewire. The card is in the back.
C1 can see the back, as it appears in the 'camera' section, and I successfully updated the firmware yesterday. I can play with the images on the back itself in the normal fashion it seems.
But I can't get the images onto the mac. I assumed the images would import immediately. Is there some setup function I have missed?
Specs
Mac mini running C1 6.3.3 DB
OS 10.6.8
2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo
8 GB ram
P25+
Firmware 5.1.2
CF card
Sandisk 16gb extreme pro 90mb/s
Firmware HDX 5.02
Pio Mode 6
udma Mode 4 whatever they are

You have two options.
You can import images from the CF card with a card reader attached to your computer. You place the CF card in the reader.
or:
You can use the firewire connection between back and computer to shoot tethered.0 -
Hi Paul
So you can't actually read the cf card from the back via firewire?
Seems bizarre, but then I'm new to all this 😄0 -

No, you can't.0 -
Thanks for your help Paul. That'll be it then 😄
Coming to this with a completely open mind it's the second rather strange design flaw I've found, the first being 'why is there no wake-up button on the back'? 😂
Any recommendations/avoids for CF card readers?
Thanks Mark0 -

Mark,
Since you're on Mac, I can recommend a firewire reader if you can find one. In general, newer CF cards support faster read/write speeds but this must be backed up by the reader (faster UDMA transfer versus slower PIO mode). Current readers keep up with newer cards but if you like to go for the pick of the stack a valuable source is Rob Galbraith who is testing this periodically:
