Capture One 5 - Update to version 5.1.6
Downloaded the new Version 5. The software update is telling me to update to version 5.1.6. Click on the link and it takes me to the Capture One web page. Version 5.1.6 no where to be found.

Same here....
I'm guessing it's a pretty safe bet that there is no 5.16 at this point.
Isn't it fun being on the bleeding edge?

I think it's the development version, with more functions (stitch) but not finalized yet. 0 -
That is the same reason I am here....and yeah...it sure is a blast being on the bleeding edge of all this super fun technology! Oh yeah....please kill me now...I have had enough fun for a few lifetimes! đ¤ 0 -
I just bought capture 4pro yesterday. And just found out there is now Capture 5pro. Do I get a free upgrade or am I a complete sucker? 0 -
why don't you just set the preferences to "never" search for upadates/upgrades? 0 -
I just bought mine yesterday too!
I'll be contacting customer service0 -
I bought my C1 4 Pro only three weeks ago. I emailed Customer Service overnight. Here's hoping! đ 0 -
I also bought Version 4 22 days ago. All other firms, Adobe etc. give a free update when you have bought the program so near the release of the new one so I hope we get the update free. 0 -
2 Things....
The update that was appearing about 5.1.6 was an error by our version server, but this is resolved now, sorry for any confusion.
When it comes to upgrades, Capture One 4 keys did not include upgrades as they were sold at a substantial discount from the price of Capture One Pro 3 which did include upgrades. this includes recent purchases. As I work in support I cannot make any sales related promises, however for extreme circumstances, such as yours' Rick and Harry, contact us and we will forward your case to the sales department... It never hurts to ask.0 -

I just got the answer for my inquiry, and the answer is no. Well, that is OK, but they are going to have to wait a long time before I upgrade. I refuse to spend twice for the same program in less than a month.0 -
To those how have just purchased. Simply dispute the charges with your credit card company.
It's a clear slap in the face to those of us who have had to put up with the issues that 4 has caused.0 -

I really don't do business that way. Like I said, it will be a very long time before I upgrade. I also just 'tweeted" about this on my twitter account so my regular photo supplier that stated I should be being upgraded for free will know about this shortly.0 -

You don't have to "do business that way" Just turn around and repurchase the new version.
It's silly how they have addressed the problems and issues with 4. As others have stated, I can't even get a reply from my crash reports. Complete lack of respect from Phase One. And no I'm not just making noise, I've been dealing with this since April and am awaiting another reply from customer support.0 -
I may instead be going back to Aperture and LR (since both are coming out with new versions soon with a more flexible upgrade policy) rather than engaging in a prolonged battle with the customer service folks at PhaseOne. I have had C1 4 Pro for less than a month so it would not be difficult to turn back to them. I will be making my decision over the next few days. Just a lesson learned. đ¤ 0 -
Most companies I'm aware of have a 30-day period, but I guess a lot depends on how much you paid for version 4. If the purchase price of ver.4 and the upgrade price is less than or close to the price of ver. 5 I can see the company's point. 0 -

Unfortunately, that was not the case in my circumstance.0 -
Hi All,
I also bought C1P4 just over a month ago, not knowing there will be a v5 so soon. The trial version would have done the job until the new release. At the moment I am left with a v4.8.3 on my snow leopard system that crashes after importing images (a number of crash reports sent). I started trial'ing v5 yesterday. It seems to be much more stable, no crash during 2 hours.
As I am living in Germany, I contacted the German P1 address first. After reading this forum, I also contacted customer support. (See Jon's reply earlier in this forum.) Now I'm waiting for answer. I don't expect the crash issue to be fixed in a v4.x soon, now that there is v5. (Or am I wrong?) And recent buyers should have a free update anyway. That's at least what I expect from a professional supplier.
So let's wait and see, I'm hoping for a positive reply from P1...
Regards,
Hans0 -

actually this is the keyword you all should refer to - buyers that didn't exceed the trial time span should get the upgrade for free.

Then I would miss it by a day or 2, wouldn't I? I registered September 25. âšī¸ 0 -

that's bad but longer than 30 days would be somehow strange. I do understand that Phase charges upgrade prices now as they reduced the pricing for V4 (V3 was more expensive but upgrades were included). But I do not understand that they charge anything from someone who bought V4 2 days ago... actually the day before the V5 release. It's not the customers fault that Phase refuses to announce a new version at least 4 weeks before its release. Back in the days they certainly had some bad experiences with their announcements regarding V4... Again not the customers fault and here I think they throw the baby out with the bath water.

But then I expect them to solve the crashes in an improved v4.8.4. 0 -

true!

question is: which ones? I have no crashes in 4.8.3. I have a lot of missing features (in V5 still) but no crashes.
Did you ever made a clean reinstall?
see here: http://xchange.phaseone.com/home/Conten ... nguageid=1
or here: http://www.captureintegration.com/2008/ ... -4-on-mac/
It may solve your crashes and certainly will speed up things.
BTW: the knowledge base article should be sticked on the top of the forum!0 -
Please see the forum '4.8.3 crash' here for the crash issue. I am updating that one when I have something new to tell.
Regarding the re-install I went a step further: I re-installed on a C1-free, re-installed Mac. HD partition formatted and blanked with 'zeros' before. Strange thing is that 4.8.3 crashes, and v5 does not.0 -

That's just crazy. WHY would anyone ever have to go through that amount of work for a piece of software. Hope you were able to bill out the day that it took you do that.0
