Database acces from multiple computer
Hi,
At my work we use a lot of reference pictures. There is a central server filled with pictures.
Now were are looking for a good way to use this server. Ideally every employe can search the database from his own pc. The pictures are named with the content.
For example, I need pictures of brick building I search for brick and get all the pictures of brick building.
Is media pro a good solution for this? Is it possible to have multiple computers working with the same database?
What would u recommend to use?
Thanks!!!

The case you describe is typically the domain of enterprise DAM, like Canto Cumulus and the likes.
There is quite a lot of open source DAM systems that would serve you well. Media Pro is a desktop DAM and therefore typically not very good at sharing access. Actually, it has no mechanisms for doing that, no access structure in any way, no concurrent use of the database.
Depending on the size of your organisation, you could give Daminion a try, that is advertising to be a small team DAM.
While i'm using MP myself, i'm using it with the pictures on same machine as the catalogue as well as the operator (so, it's on my PC). I don't think it can handle your case.0 -
Thank you!
Im gonna take a closer look at daminion. It is a small office of only 5 people so this should okay.0
