Capture One speed difference between different HD interfaces
Does it make any difference as far as the speed of Capture One 5 goes, if my RAW images are on the following drives:
1. External drive connected via USB
2. External drive connected via FireWire 400
3. External drive connected via FireWire 800
4. Internal drive
I understand the speed differences between these interfaces but would Capture One be any faster if I used one of the interfaces vs other?
Thanks

In general, internal drive is fastest and certainly most reliable. 0 -
As Paul says, the internal drives are massively faster then any other options.
From here it goes down from faster to slower.
1. FW800
2. FW400
3. USB20 -
thank you. But does C1 really benefit from reading the pics from the internal drive vs. FW800 drive? 0 -
If the internal drive is slow (5400rpm small capacity laptop drive) and the external FireWire drive is fast (7200rpm large capacity desktop drive) then the external will win, only just. Or if the internal drive is close to full and the system has little ram the external will help. In either case the systems configuration needs attention. 0
