Opening a NEF File directly from Windows Browser
Good day folks,
I tried to do a search on the FAQ's for this, but the "?FAQ" button is sending an error message back, so hopefully you can help me here.
When I look at NEF's (D2X) in Windows Explorer and double click on it to open it in C1 (C1 is my default program for NEF's), I get an error message that tells me the path is invalid (and gives me the actual path in the window with the last expression being "Preferences$$$"). I'm not exactly sure what this means first of all, and secondly the program seems to go into a loop when I click either Ignore or Ignore All. The window comes up with the folders alright (from there I can select where I want to open the file from or view the cache I suppose), but if I click Cancel, that same window just keeps coming up ad infinitum. The only way to stop that loop is to not cancel, but go ahead and open the file from this window. It would seem the Cancel button has no effect.
So the problem seems to be in opening a file directly from Explorer, and if you try anyway and decide to cancel out, you end up in a loop that forces you to go ahead and open it anyway. Is there any way of avoiding this situation?
Thanks very much for your help.

Glenn,
This is not the way the program works, you don't open a single file with Capture One.
All RAW image files are loaded into a Capture One Session so that Thumbnails and Previews can be built and image adjustment data can be written and saved.
See FAQ - Knowledge Base article # 2057 on Sessions
