refreshing images from a session folder
Hi, I have an existing session but noticed that I had 2 subfolders with the same dates containing images. It was my fault initially because I imported one memory card from my 1st camera into a date subfolder but later imported images from my 2nd camera into the wrong parent folder. It therefore created another date subfolder with exactly the same date. Therefore I ended up with 2 subfolders with the same date located under different parent folders.
Once I noticed this, I dragged one set of images across into the chosen correct date subfolder with the intention of combining all images into the same date subfolder. I dragged and dropped using Capture One - NOT windows explorer. C1 asked me to confirm moving the files and I did. However, once complete, it did not show any of the new images I had just dragged there. I confirmed using windows explorer that ALL the images were indeed in the same date subfolder (ie, the move had worked), but for whatever reason, C1 was not showing them.
I considered that maybe C1 needed to import the new images into the session so ran the import dialog to import from the folder - into the same folder. This worked from the point of view of my images were now visible but that was because C1 had duplicated every image and I was now seeing "image_1.ARW". This makes sense as I guess C1 did exactly what I asked it do, import from the folder to the same folder. Realising my error, I filtered for the new _1 images and sent them to trash.
But I still have the problem of - my newly moved images, that I have proven exist in my subfolder" do not appear in C1. Is there anyway I can refresh the thumbnails in the folder and hopefully pickup the new images? Can I force C1 to look at the subfolder again and recognise that there are around 300 new images in the folder? Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Levin

Windows does seem to have a few issues with telling applications that there are new files in folders the application has been using.
Copy images within a C1 session is the correct thing to do because that will ensure that the edit and preview files will be copied as well. But in the case of a session it may not automatically update the session database to then update the working information already in memory to know about those files.
Usually the most effective way to force the application to re-read the contents of a folder would be to navigate away from the folder (is it just a folder being access in C1 or have you also registered the folder as a "favourite" within the session?) to another folder or an album or something and then return to the original folder. At that point C1 will, usually in my experience, re-read the contents of the folder an should find the new files.
However that does not always work (using C1 or other applications in my experience).
In that case I would suggest closing the session and re-opening it.
However something else might try is to set the folder you intend to keep with the added images to the "Selects folder" then use the "Move to Selects Folder" option to move the files you want to move there.
Change the "Selects" folder back to the default Selects folder afterwards to avoid any future confusion.
Out of interest, which version of Windows are you running?

ETA: Also make sure that the new host folder does not have any filters or similar set that might exclude the new files form being selected for display. Mentioned for completeness ....0 -

I really wish there was a "refresh" button. Having to navigate away means also waiting for the new target to load before you can return to the original folder. I have to do this each time I use a process to send a file to photoshop. Once saved there, I need to nav away and come back in order to see the file I just saved from Photoshop. Seems a bit 1990s to me. A refresh button would be much better if automatically refreshing the folder isn't an option.0
