Quick search of multiple keywords
I'm new to this software, so maybe I'm missing something (couldn't find an answer elsewhere in this forum either).
Is there a quick way to search multiple keywords? When I type more than one keyword in the search field, I just get a beep, and the search returns no images. I've tried leaving a space, adding a "+" "and" "," anything that seems logical, but none of that works. I seem to only be able to get search results when I type in a single keyword... which is not very useful.
So far I've found that the only way to search multiple keywords is to go to the find menu (or command/control F). Then I have to say "Find items in Front Catalog", select "keywords" from the dropdown menu, select "contains" from the dropdown menu, type in my keyword, select "and" from a dropdown menu, go to the next line, select "keywords" from the dropdown menu, select "contains" from the dropdown menu, then type my second keyword, then finally hit "find." A lot of work for something that should be much simpler.
Does the search field really not understand any basic search syntax? Seems a bit useless if it can only handle 1 keyword...

I think you're expecting too much of the software.
But I can suggest a tip to speed up the "Find" process. Set up a Find query as you describe, then choose the "Save this query" option using the "gear" button at the upper right and save it as "2 keyword query" (at least it's a gear in Expression Media; I'm not sure if they changed it in Media Pro). Then the next time you use Find, you can select your custom query from your list of saved queries. (It might even remain as the current query from the last time you used it.) Saves a lot of time.0 -

I think that should be, you are expecting to much of this software. ๐
Considering that in something like ACDsee in the quick search tool bar you can type in ben+dexter -bella which will bring up all images containing ben and dexter together but excluding any that have bella in them and the permutations are endless. ๐0 -

Ha, you're right. I stand corrected.[quote="Paul Silk" wrote:

I just downloaded a trial copy, but I can't get the Quick Search tool bar to work as you describe. I get only single keyword results. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, or it's a Mac limitation. I really like the clean interface. Unfortunately it appears to lack a Web gallery generation tool, which is critical to my workflow. It also has the same problem displaying NEF edits as Expression Media/Media Pro. Also, the Mac version doesn't have all the features of the Windows version. I had hoped this would be a good alternative to Media Pro. Oh, well.0 -
Thanks for the tip on speeding up the find process, at least that will help. It's a shame you can't use +'s and -'s in the quick search field, I don't really see any reason why that functionality isn't already there รขโฌโ it doesn't seem like it's that much to expect from a database/catalogue software.
So apparently you can only save "find" searches in the full app, not the reader app...0
