saving basic settings

Is there away to saving settings, such as basic camera settings and sharpening, so that they are the same on every import.

    You can save these settings as a Preset or Style, or both. Then apply that Style once the images are imported.

    Great saving as a style works perfect, but adds a step. My default settings under base characteristics is Nikon d700 Generic v2 and curve is v2 standard. Can I change the default setting to Linear and my input sharpening to something else?

    Base Characteristics Camera Profile (input ICC) and Film Curve can all be saved in the style, as well as your sharpening presets. Saving all of these adjustments to a style is the answer here.
