preview generation
Question...
When i have a job that has been shot with two cameras i generally import the first card and then import the second card, using the image name only as the file name.
I then like to sort them by date so that all images are in time order...I then batch rename the entire set to my desired name.
the problem is that when you import the first card CO immediately begins preview/proxy generation...and then after you rename the images it now has to totally regenerate all the previews to the new names..so there is a lot of wasted time.
is there any way to just import without preview generation??
On a side note...CO 6 never had this problem..somehow when you renamed the files it never had to regenerate previews..it was able to just rename the previews as well..with CO 7 it does not work this way...seems that previews have to be regenerated to the new file names...

There is not.
However what you described is curious as we should (and do, in testing just now) rename the already generated Proxy Preview file as appose to Regenerating it.
We'd love to get some details about your system in a support case to better understand why this is occurring.0 -
I have posted a support ticket in case you are in touch with them.
thanks

So am I 😉
Both cases are in the right hands. We're awaiting documentation from Stanley41 so we can compare notes and find a common thread here. Presently these are the only two cases showing this behavior and it's on our Developers desk for investigation.0
