Variants
Is it possible to search the whole catalogue for any/all variants? The smart album doesn't appear to have any selection criteria that works.
The reason behind the question is re-appearing keywords after being deleted. I THINK and I stress THINK that when you copy or clone a variant it also copies any keywords, but I THINK when you delete the variant the keywords stay in the sql database. My basis for that is I found an image with some of the re-appearing keywords so I cleared them. Closed and re-opened COP and the KW re-appeared. I re-deleted the KWs. I remembered that this image at one point had a cloned variant so I re-created a clone and surprise surprise the new cloned image had the KW even though I had just deleted them from the master image. After trial and error I managed to remove both sets of unwanted KW and removed the clone. These KWs now no longer re-appear. Now I need to find any other clones/variants I have created to repeat the process and prove or disprove my theory.
MacOS El Capt and COP 9.3
Thanks

Interesting find!
The best way to proceed is to have a minimal catalog with the minimal amount of images, variants and keywords (a system known as MRE: minimal reproducible example). It then becomes relatively easy to prove your theory without having to search through thousands of images.
You can then include this MRE catalog when you log that bug report! 😊

If you have multiple edits of an image in a session each edit may have its own keywords.
I assume that catalogues will be the same.
There is no such thing as a "master" variant in reality. However you will have a preferred variant adn often that will be first one created mainly because people probably do not bother to use the option to re-order the selection of variants they have created.
HTH.

Hi Peter
Great idea to start with a test cat; works well for submitting a bug report too.
However I'd like to tidy up my KWs first so really need to identify where my variants are.

Hi Grant
My use of the word masters was perhaps misleading. I'm just trying to identify where my variants are within the cat
