Set up on a network

I too face the same issue. Version 3.6 will not allow the preview folder to be saved on a network location. It will only allow the folder to be saved locally in the shared folder.

You can make the shared folder network accessible for other clients but this is not ideal becase the host client is being used to store the previews instead of the server.

The elegant solution is to be able to save the preview anywhere on the network but Capture One is only looking locally in the preview cache pull down inside preferences.

Can C1's preview cache be \"opened\" so it reads network places also? Just like the file browser? Over SMB?

    tks

I operate a small studio with a pc network (H1+P25)

In the studio, I shoot tethered to a pc (which I call my Capture Station).
While shooting, I check the previews (which are stored locally), whereas the captures are stored on my Raid 5 server.

Following a shoot, I take my customers to my show room where I access the captures from my Processing Station for display on a wall-mounted display screen using a Epson projector.

Why would you want to store previews centrally?

When I access captures from my Processing Station, C1 Pro rebuilds previews in a matter of seconds. Even previews from sessions with up to 900 shots are generated pretty fast.

Generally, I believe that computer power (and plenty of it) is the key to running a smooth workflow.

I have now been operating the above set-up for 3 months without a glitch.

Should any one be interested in specs, you can write me at mgc@postbud.dk
