Is it possible to have a network shared catalog
Apologies if this question has been already answered, I have searched for it on these boards but not found answer.
I have a NAS I want to store my photos on, I have Capture one installed on my windows desktop and also on my MacBook pro. I would like if possible to have it setup so they are both accessing the same catalogs, and changes I make on the desktop to photos are fully visible on the mac and vice versa.
Also if I have the mac while away on weekends and import photos into capture one there, when I bring it home and plug back into the network I can somehow copy that back to the NAS and on the windows desktop machine see all my edits and adjustments to those photos I made offline on the MAC. 😊
Another way of looking at it would be having a master copy of my capture one catalogs and photos on the nas and replicas on the mac and pc hard drives that synchronise with the master copy...
Anyone know if this is possible or any workarounds ?
thanks
Matt

Hi Matt,
Some answers to your questions.
First, the NAS versus one or more computers and a catalog.
You can do this but you have to place both the images and the catalog file/folder on the NAS. Note that you can only open and edit the catalog by one user at a time (it will be locked, preventing access from another user). You need a fast wired (gigabit Ethernet) network between NAS and workstations. So this is a go.
Second, catalogs and Win/Mac interchangeability.
There is currently an issue, identified by Phase One, for catalogs with referenced images, that move between Win & Mac. So that is a no until the issue is resolved.
Third, bringing images home.
You can do this by importing the images with their adjustments in the catalog. You first copy the new images to the NAS before import. So that is a go.
Fourth, sync between computer and NAS.
The feature does not exist. What you could do is copy the catalog file (actually a folder) to your Mac periodically. The catalog does contain the adjustments and the previews. This means can you browse and select your images offline, that is not connected to your network. In case you make adjustments offline, you have to copy back the catalog. Not a kind of workflow I would encourage (the latter part). So, this is a maybe.0 -
On the fourth question about syncing, do search the forums as some 3rd party sync tools have been discussed to do this.
I have no clue how successful.0 -
