No update for deleted folders/images
While we deleted files in folders and chose "Update folder" with right clicking into the folder structure panel, the deleted files will still be present in Media Pro SE!
Procedure sometimes: If Auto Update is deactivated, Media Pro will only add new files but not delete files which are already deleted. The dialoge which asks if one really want's to update shows ONLY TWO buttons!?
All outdated, deleted files will show red file paths
If Auto Update is active, and only if it is active, the dialog offers sometimes THREE buttons, now, and files will be updated in the right way in Media Pro SE.
This is not how it should work. If i have deactivated Auto update, and i choose "Update Folder" manually, i expect Media Pro to really update the folder.
Missing folders will only get a red question mark but never update in the right way to SHOW the RIGHT SUBFOLDERS AND FILES!... One can't work with such a messy behavior.
Don't know how to fix this bad behavior...

Question: How are you deleting your files? Are you deleting them in a Mac Finder window, or are you deleting them within Media Pro's interface?
(To avoid the problem you're describing, you should never delete catalogued files from a Mac Finder window. Delete them only from within Media Pro.)0 -
See the answer I have just given on this in reply to one of your other posts.

Of course we delete and add files with the "finder". That's how the OS works.
If MPSE can't handle folder content right, i would call it a bug. The basic program on Mac for managing any file is the finder. So MPSE should work with the finder, no doubt.(To avoid the problem you're describing, you should never delete catalogued files from a Mac Finder window. Delete them only from within Media Pro.)
Maybe this is the only workaround, but it's just not adaptable to a professional environment. Maybe it works for single/private use. But it does not work in a company wide network and that's what the program is for!0 -

It is not a bug or a workaround. As I understand it, Media Pro follows the same protocols used by all "referenced" asset management software. A catalog with referenced assets requires that you manage your files from within the catalog so the catalog knows where they are. If you delete or move the files outside of the software, then the software will warn you that it can't find the reference. That's perfectly normal (and very useful, in case you deleted or moved the files accidentally).
Also, Media Pro is a single-user program. It was not designed to be used on a network.0 -

+1 😄
Lightroom, Capture One PRO (Catalog), Extensis Portfolio, FotoStation, etc, all require you to manage your assets from within the digital asset manager.
ixtract you are correct that on previous MacOS versions that Media Pro could monitor if a file was deleted in the Finder. But something clearly changed in how Apple handle Finder integration and other apps (like Photo Mechanic) have "issues" as well.0
