I found out from the log that it looks like it got some problems with the session I had open before I upgraded from 4.0 to 4.5, can anyone help me do a complet wipe of the 4.0 so I can do a clean installation of the 4.5, I think that might help me?

    Hi Jonas,

I got the same demanding for "45.col".

Meanwhile, after trying dozent times to create a new session,
Capture One crashes each time within the first step and I newer
    see any session window again.

    Very nice product ;-/// ;-(((

In earlier versions of Capture 3.7x, when you created a SESSION, it would create a folder with a Capture, Process and Trash folder, and a file name with a .session extension. This new session file name ends with .col45.

If you can't create a session, then the permissions on your hard drive might have changed which is not allowing you to create a new session there. Can you create a new session in 3.7.9 in the same drive/location?

I am encountering this same problem. I had C1 Pro 3.7 on my machine, and I used the Lite C1 4 - pre Pro release. I get the same thing. I have reinstalled, repaired permissions, etc. I have no idea what is going on. Does this program not run on the Power PC 10.4.11 Mac? That would be a shame and a huge disappointment.

The problem is not Power pc at least because I'm having the problem on Intel, but I do run Mac OS 10.4.11 as you do, so the problem might be connected to that in some way?

I don't have any problems creating session from my 3.7 which I still have installed. The problem is not connected to permissions I don't believe because it makes all the right folders the only problem is the session file .col45 which makes the program crash every time it tries to write it.

The System Requirements specifically state OSX10.5.5 and Intel NOT G4 processors.

So why does it even attempt to run?

If it wont run on a G4 with OSX 10.4.x will Phase One ever meet it commitment to provide a free upgrade as promised to buyers on C1 Pro?

where do you find the system requirements? - I have only found recommendations I don't se that as the same thing.

I think having OSX 10.5.x as a system requirements is a BIG mistake, there are still a lot of uses on OSX 10.4

See the C1 release notes - I quote

    Apple® Macintosh®:
    • Intel-based Macs
    • 1 GB of RAM (2 GB when working with digital backs)
    • 10 GB of free hard disk space
    • Calibrated color monitor with 1280 x 800, 24 bit resolution at 96dpi screen ruling
    • Mac OS X 10.5.5 or later

and this reply from Phase One to a question about my free upgrade not being honoured

Specifications do change as programs evolve. PPC based computers have not been sold for over 2 years and amount of PPC based Apple computers in the market is dropping dramatically.
Whereby we have now chosen not to support PPC based computers on the new platform due to the time increase it would take to support this decreasing portion of the Mac market-
This does not mean that you cannot still use Capture One 3.7.8 with great result on you G4 computer.

We have not promised not commited us in any way to keep up support for PPC based computer or older operating systems where compensation for PPC based computer owners is not an option.
The upgrade is still available for you and not taken away the day you choose to upgrade your computer.

I have abandoned C1 and now use Lightroom - it is so much better and easier to use

Are you kidding me. So will it work with PPC and 10.5?

I se no reason why it should be like that, when the 4.1.1 is running fine on OSX 10.4 and G5. It makes no sense at all to not support Mac OSX 10.4 when so many are still running it! - It's like only supporting people with 30" monitors, makes no sense.

Yea, it does. I just booted my G5 tower off of my laptop (Leopard) in Target Mode and it works just fine.

What does that mean exactly? You use the hardrive of your laptop but run the processors on your tower? Anyways, so your saying in should work with the PPC.

I'm in the same boat as everyone I just don't understand why everyone is so surprised. This was bound to happen, not supporting outdated Hardware and Operating systems. The timing sucks but it makes sense from technology point of view. You can't move forward in software features without moving forward in the requirements necessary to support those features. I can't use some Adobe software on my Tiger Machine, I got over it. I didn't hear people complaining to Phase One when they stopped supporting Panther, 10.3... this is just the course of action with technology.

    Sebastian,

That's exactly what that means, I booted my tower off my Laptop harddrive. This was done over a firewire connection and 4.5 was still faster than using Capture One 3.7.7 on my Tiger Machine.

    Belinda,
Something is not "PRO" about your machine, I'm running this on far less sophisticated hardware and seeing improvement. And my Leopard MBP is humming along with no problem, you should get that machine looked at.

    Hi John,
i removed the software completley and installed again, now it all works like it should.
guess it was just one of those things.
