Print Size in Capture One 11 Pro
Hi Folks.
At last I have gotten around to preparing a bunch of images to go for Lab Printing. Previously I have been printing them myself on my A3 Cannon with good results, but its getting expensive in terms of materials (testing and messing up occasionally) and time etc.
My challenge with the Lab Printing is the fixed sizes of images. Often my crops are not a direct fit for fixed print sizes for example. Say I have an image which looks great at the crop of 16*9 inch for example (odd size I know but works with one particular image) and the sizes I have available from the lab are 12*10 or 16*12. Changing the crop to suit wont work, so I'm thinking I should be able to resize the entire image to make it suit the print size.
I'm guessing this would be easy with 'resize' in say, PS or Affinity but I cant see a way to do that in CO.
Any suggestions welcomed, please forgive my ignorance on the subject but until now I've never used image software.

Very briefly, your workflow would be as follows.
- determine the print size of your lab
- create a new process recipe and enter the dimensions in it
- go to your image; set crop ratio to Output
- crop
That's all.0 -
As Paul says.
However don't look for edge to edge coverage (for example) if you are preparing a 16x9 ratio cropped image for a 16x12 print media size!
Only 2 edges would be achieved ...
Some print shops offer custom sizes based on matching one of their standard sizes to the longest side of your image in some way (i.e. with or without margins.
You pay for the 16x12, for example, but they trim it to 16x9. This can be an important service is you are having the result framed at 16x9 or maybe a canvas print as part of the service.
If you just want the print and intend to mount it and frame it yourself (or at least not as part of the print service) then there is no need for the printer to trim the resulting output.

Thanks for the feedback folks.
I think the recognition that I'll have to have the sizes trimmed makes more sense, in this instance I'm wanting the images Foamex Board mounted. Didn't know this might be an option.
I'll chat with the Lab and get their feedback on what they might offer.
Cheers
