Processed Files are not saved

I'm Running Capture One Pro 8.3.2 and since updating to this version I do not seem to be able to save any files I have "processed".

I can make all the adjustments to the original files (.SRW raw files from my Samsung NX3000 or .JPG files from any camera) and when I tell C1 to process 1 or more it shows the progress bar and no error messages are displayed.

However there are no files in the processed folder.

If I use Lightroom (v5) files can be saved to the same folder.

I've tried multiple source file folders and changed process folders. I've checked Windows Event logs and I've also re-installed 8.3.2 but no explanation of why the files are not being saved.

Any ideas?

    I've tried both. Same result - I can watch the activity window and it shows the files being processed, but they never appear in the output folder.

    I checked the license and the license details are all there and valid.

    OK - so I found the problem.

    Looks like I can't change the output file location of any of my old V7 Process Recipes. I can change the location in the recipe but it ignores the change and writes the files to the previous location (I've added a new disk drive so my processed files are no longer on the original drive but the drive is still there).

    This seems like a bug to me as C1 doesn't warn me that the process recipe isn't taking any notice of the new location.

    I created a new recipe, identical in all but name to the one that was incorrectly working and the new one works just fine.

    My only remaining problem is I can't find how to change the name of a recipe, it doesn't allow me to set a name even on initial creation of one. I really don't want to dump all my old recipes, but I wonder if the existence of them is causing problems.

    I can change the name of a recipe just by double-clicking the name. (I'm on a Mac, but I don't think that would make a difference.)

    I'm on windows and my V7 recipes, and V6 before that, have always migrated with the updates.

    If you want to rename a recipe just click on it once to highlight the name section in orange and then click again ONCE to open the text for editing. If that doesn't work there is something strange going on.

    As for the output location - there are two places where you can specify (and change) the target output folder.

    The "expected" source of the target output would typically be in the File tab of the Process Recipe tool which, as a default for a session for example, would normally point to the "Output" folder for the session folder structure (but can be changed to point anywhere else you may prefer).

    There is also an Output Location tool that provides an override output location for occasions when you want the results to go somewhere else but would prefer not to disturb the basic recipe. By default this will point to the same place as the File tab points.

    I'm guessing that you have one or other of them (probably the latter ?) set from the old days and overriding where you think things are going. I has the same thing myself from time to time until I sat down one day and decided to finally get my head around how it worked.

    Of course I could be wrong and you may have some other problems in play but this would be a good place to start checking.

    Many thanks for the advice and articles. I shall look at those in more depth when I have a bit of time.

    I think there was definitely something a bit screwed up with C1. Last night I just couldn't change the names of any of my recipes (new or old) until I dumped all of my old recipes.

    I made a note of each of the Recipe settings, and then deleted all except the new one I had created (which was saving to the correct folder). After that I was able to re-create all my favourite recipes and change the names, even then - it took several clicks of a recipe name so that it became editable. Having left it overnight the response time is now instant and everything appears to be back to normal. It's weird because in all other respects I was having no issues with C1 in terms of response times.

    The definition of the output location as I'm doing it in Sessions mode is pretty easy and straight forward.

    All it needs is going to the gear wheel toolset and there to the entry "Output Location". Open this and then you'll see the field "Store Files". This field may be blank when there was no previous definition or it shows the most recent folder or subfolder where processed files are written. For changing to a different folder just open the field (click on the up/down arrows) and a drop down box will open which holds the previously choosen output folders (if there were previous definitions). If there's none yet or you want to select a different output folder just click on "Choose" and a window will open where you can select the drive / folder (normal brosing like in the Windows Explorer) where you want the processed files to be stored. You can also create a new folder where you need it. Finally just click on the "Select folder" button on the booton of the window. Done.

    The name of the selected folder will now appear in the field "Store Files" and a previously defined output folder will go to the first entry of the list. So a switch back to previously defined output locations only need entering the list and a click on the folder name which receives then a checked sign.
