Capture One 10.1 Causing Major Issues
Capture One 10.1, is causing serious issues with my MAC OS, in addition to running slow. At times C1 will be running at 100-200%+ on a MacBook i7, 4 core running 16gb of RAM. After uninstalling it and reinstalling a clean version, it appears to have serious performance delay and taking up to 2minutes + to process NEF RAW files. Had zero issues with the previous version C1 until I upgraded this morning. Even had Apple senior advisor remote in to check everything over. while my system seems fine, he agrees there is something seriously wrong with C1 10.1. Am I the only one?

Mine seems fine, and faster.
Do you have OpenCL on? Try it off.0 -
Thanks but tried it both ways with no effect. 0 -
On my iMac 3,3 GHz Intel Core i5 it takes about 6.5GB RAM and 150-200% CPU (I'm not doing anything at the moment) 0 -
So I see a performance issue, how much of my resources is C1 suppose to be consuming? 0 -

macOS 10.12.4 reports C1, at idle, is using 1.59GB RAM and essentially no CPU.0 -

I suggest you open a support case ASAP. This is definitely not behaviour that I have seen.
Which iMac is this (what year, if possible share the model number ilke imac 17,1)? Also, which operating system are you running?
Which version of COP were you using before?
How big is your catalog? Managed or referenced images?
What kind off drive are you using to store your images and your catalog files?
What size previews do you have set in COP preferences?
Try choosing a fairly small preview size (under 2000 pixels per side) then importing your old catalog into a new one. Leave COP running overnight so that it can finish regenerating all the previews.0 -
Major issue here as well: Slow, buggy interface. I'm stick to 10.0, and filled up a support case.

Would those filing support cases consider posting the results here? It is very odd that some could have such problems while others have smooth sailing. 0 -
I did have an open support case, however, support was unable to resolve the issue. Having said that after multiple uninstalls and reinstalls, repairing my disk via Sierra online, turning hardware acceleration on and off, C1 v10.1 seems to have stabilized and not causing the previous major issues. However, as people have stated in the past, C1 does seem to be a resource hog, which certainly can cause issues when other programs are trying to run in the background. 0 -
Seems that trashing the C1 10 plist file can cure many (or hopefully all) problems some of us have found with 10.1.
For me (iMac 27'' late 2012 i7 32 GB RAM) 10.1 ran slow as to be unusable, it took literally minutes to change a picture, crashed on changing catalogs.
So, if you have similar trouble try deleting C1 10 plist from Preferences (copy the original to a save location so you can revert to it if something goes wrong). You will have to redo some of your custom settings if you had changed standards before - it's a nuisance but better than having a non-working 10.1 because it's really fast once it works.
I have also deleted my setup files in CaptureOne ApplicationSupport in user library for my two monitors workspace. I don't know if this was mandatory though it acted up someway so I build it anew.
Hope this helps.

All good to know..Curious, have you found your MAC running very warm while running 10.1 prior to deleting the plst and support files? My runs so hot even with C1 idle the fans will kick on.0 -

Warmer, definitely. Hot - no. C1 crashed on me a few times before I killed that .plist. I have used it for some time now, seems to work well.
Rgds, jason0 -
Support suggested I turn off OpenCL for display acceleration off. So far that has made a world of difference, performance seems to have improved considerably, while not burning up my MAC! 0
