Catalog and/or RAW Files on NAS Server
Hi all, I would like to know if you might have any experience storing and working with C1's catalog and/or RAW Files on a NAS Server?
Cheers,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,
The catalog was designed with the NAS in mind. Store the catalog on a local disk, and raw files on a NAS.
The key is that with a catalog, Capture One needs very little access to the original image file, mainly during import and export.0 -
Hallo,
I have my catalog on an SSD and the whole RAWs on my NAS. It is working pretty well.
CaptureOne was pretty slow when I enabled "Auto sync sidecar XMP". SO i just left it off.

hi Paul, thank you for the answer. Do you know something about Auto sync sidecars?, for me is vital that they are updated, is this also an issue on your network?
I am thinking to replace my backup and storing strategy from Promise Pegasus & Drobo, to a QNAP NAS, meaning that I will lose the thunderbolt speed but I might gain with the server possibilities the QNAP gives. Am I going on the right direction?

Hi,
I am using a QNAP NAS for storing. I experienced poor performance using auto sync sidecar. In this mode, CaptureOne, will start to sync your on disk and catalog metadata. So, it will to much more access.
Try it, it's not that bad if there are not that much file inside folter/album. However, It happens that I come back from a job with 1000 pictures. So I to not want my workflow to get slow down at this point.
C1 can sync sidecar up on demand (Info panel).

Just to have it spoken out: My original hardware setup had been: Mac, printer and QNAP NAS connected to the WLAN/Internet router. After I have invested € 25,- into a 5-port Gigabit switch and have connected NAS and Mac to the switch it's a dream working with the NAS. Not all routers seem to support 1000 base ethernet.
