Copy or duplicate a catalog set
Is there a way to make a copy or to make a duplicate of a catalog set including its subsets?
I'm a filmmaker and very often need the identical catalog set and its subsets for different departments. Re-creating each set takes a lot of time and unfortunately I haven't found neither a script nor a forum post discussing this.
I'm aware of the fact that the top folder of each catalog set would need to have a different name, as Media Pro doesn't accept catalog sets with identical names if they are on the same folder level.
Thanks for helping out.

You can use a 'carier' image.
Just pick a random 'clean' image, import it in you catalog and add it to all catalog sets.
Synchronize the sets into the image
Import this image in the other catalog
A second option is to make a duplicate of the first catalog (with all the wanted catalog sets)
Delete all images in it
Open the second catalog and import this 'empty' catalog

Hi Roelof,
thanks for your answer.
With regards to the first option, what do you mean by "synchronizing the sets into the image" and "import this image in the other catalog"? Also, as my catalog sets contain lots of subsets / sub-terms, this method sounds pretty complicated as apparently I would have to add that clean image to all catalog sets, sub-sets and sub-terms.
I tried the second option, i.e. I created a new empty catalog containing a few catalog sets with different sub-sets / sub-terms. I duplicated the catalog and tried to import it (using "import from catalog file") into the first one with no result. The catalog I'm importing into stays just as it was before.0 -
With "Synchronizing the sets into the image" i mean:
1. Select the image (wich you have added to all catalog sets)
2. Choose the option 'Sync Annotations' under 'Action' in the menu

3. Select the 'Include the catalog set' option
4. Now you can import this image in the other catalog
I tried the second option too and indeed it doesn't work either... Strange, because i'm sure i have used this option before.
However, what should work is:
1. Import the catalog with all the catalog sets into the second catalog ( so don't remove the images before this proces)
2. Choose in the Menu: Find / Show last import
3. CTRL + A
4. hit de DEL key (it will only remove the images from your catalog, not from your filesystem)
