Codecs Pdfs & Scripts
Hi All
Been interested in buying this, but can't seem to get pdfs to work in the trial version. Support have said that I need to get codecs from Adobe, but I can't find what I need on the Adobe site- would anyone know where to get this?
Also, our custom Expression scripts no longer work & Support are unable to give me any advice on how to script in Media Pro- anyone here know what to do?
Any help much appreciated
Thanks
Susan

Support have said that I need to get codecs from Adobe
I can advise the FastPictureViewer Codec Pack, it's about 15,- dollar.
It does 64-bit PSD, DNG, all RAWs, PDF, INDD, EPS and AI thumbnails (from XMP metadata), and works on *all* Windows platforms from XP SP3 to Vista, Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 and beyond.
It's integration very well with Windows by supporting Explorer thumbnails and very fast previews, Photo Gallery, Media Center 7 and Media Player 12 in one package:Also, our custom Expression scripts no longer work & Support are unable to give me any advice on how to script in Media Pro- anyone here know what to do?
You have to make some modifications to your EM scripts but it's basicaly very easy. Edit the script in Notepad or TextEdit. Look for the line with CreateObject and replace the word “ExpressionMedia†(or “iView†with older scripts) with “PhaseOneMediaProâ€, so it reads “PhaseOneMediaPro.Applicationâ€.
When you are installing custom scripts, put them inside the user-defined Plug-ins folder and not the Plug-ins folder defined by Media Pro. This way, you will not lose your custom settings and plug-ins when you upgrade to future versions of Media Pro. The user-defined Plug-ins folder is located in one of the following locations:
~User/Library/Application Support/Media Pro/Plug-ins
/Library/Application Support/ Media Pro/Plug-ins
Network/Library/Application Support/ Media Pro/Plug-in

Support told me the same thing, even though they couldn't tell me which ones.
In the end, I did the same as Roelof did - I bought the FastPictureViewer package. It was easy, inexpensive, and they worked.0 -
Hey,
I have the same, not solved problem with PDF files.
I bought FastPictureViewer, but thumbnails are still PDF icons. In Media view is message "No importer found..." What all visible you got?
In my Media info, there however is seen "VIC Adobe XMP based PDF Thmubnail Provider....."
So I think FPV is correctly installed. Is it needed to do something else?
Roelof was mentioning about XMP based files. Should I have PDF files with XMP sidecars? If yes, how to create those?
After insalling FPV, pictures are rendering much faster in Media view, expect the first one.
Import is also fast enouch in my PC.
I'm running XP and MediaPro, the latest one.

Jim,
Aahh, this is what I also wan to see.
Thanks for showing it.
But what did you do? How did you get it?
Only by installing FPV?
No XMP sidecars?
Lenni0 -
I did nothing special to the pdfs; all my photos have sidecars. I don't use MP for my pdfs, so I haven't done anything special. After I installed the new codex, I may have rebuilt everything using Windows as the engine; though I was having a problem with psd files. Most likely, though, I only rebuilt the psds.
Edit - oh, and be sure you do a restart after installing the new codecs.0 -
Jim,
Thanks
Anyway, for me no success, something is wrong, I do not get them visible.
But they are visible in MS FIle browser....

Many thanks All- you are more helpful than the Support team!
