Preview Image size with my Rig ??

Hi everyone,

I know this has been ask here before & I ask Jon personally at the C1 training, but ..

I have a current 8 core, 24gig with SSD start-up and apps- and an array doing 500 meg a second for captures and previews, and yet 5DII files take forever (like 3-4 sec. each) to come to full rez.

So my System has a 3o" (me) hooked to a 5770 video card and a 23" (client) hooked to a GT120 card. Is 1000 pixel previews still optimum for this rig? Seems no ....

Any experience with a large tech monitor and a 2nd or 3rd 23" client display?

Also I run a 2010 i7 2 core with the 30" as the sole display using the fancy apple adapter. Same'ish deal.... system and apps on one drive, capturing to a 2nd internal. Is the magic/problem in setting preview size for the 30" ?

And will the pixel setting (1000 for say) be same for vertical & horizontal shooting ....? Geez.

Seems very strange to me. I use 1600px for most shoots and it never takes 3 seconds to preview. I'm guessing you have tried all the normal cache clearing and stuff. I have noted that when I had to use a motion grading tower once, which has a 285 and quadro4000 that we had "issues" with both cards installed. Cant remember the exact details I'm afraid. Do a clean install and see if that helps. Your 5870 can deal with having two cards attached try taking the 120 card out.
