Hangs when finished processing (Xeon Quad core 2.66 cpu)
Are there any known issues with (capture one v3.74 and higher) Intel Xeon Quad core processors? I've got a brand new machine from Dell that's got a 2.66 ghz Quad core cpu 1066 mhz fsb (x5355) with hyper threading on // 4gb DDR2 667 (4 dimms) // 128mb PCIe x16 nvidia quadro fx550 gfx card // 250gb C: drive @7200rpm and 2nd D: drive at 10k rpm (for scratch disc) // dvd/cd rw // multi card reader // and a partridge in a pear tree.
I ordered this machine and built it to be raw horsepower. I did my research and in email correspondance with Phase one learned that Phase one v4.x would support quad core technology.
Now, here's the issue: the computer hangs when it hits 100% when processing an image. It does nothing, nor does anything show up in the task manager (cpu usage at 0% // system idle at 100%). I've checked everything, gone round about back and forth with email tech support and have now thrown in the towel and gave the computer to our tech people to let them fight with it. From when Phase one hits 100% to when it starts to open it in Adobe photoshop (tried versions 5, 5.5, 6, 6.01, 7, CS and CS2, and I've also tried Phase one version 3.7.😎 is roughly 1 minute 30 seconds. On our old computer which has a P4 3.06 w/HT and 2gb DDR 400, it takes about 6 seconds from when it's finished processing (100%) to open it up in any version of photoshop.
The tech people here at work (Government) has told me that they contacted Dell, and Dell said that it was Phase one that was hanging because it wasn't compatible with xeon Quad core. The techs here also told me that they've been in contact with Phase one and that Phase one says that there are no known issues with a quad core xeon processor.
I've thrown in the towel and am now letting the techs here handle the issue, although I have a few questions:
Is anyone else having this issue?
Is anyone else running a quad core cpu? If so, what kind/model?
Is phase one v4.x compatible with quad core cpus? Any links to back that up?
Thanks so much for any help that any one can provide!
Steve

I just installed PO 4 today on my HP with an Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz and 4 GB RAM. I have not expreienced any issues yet. I have processed about 20 or 30 files without the hanging that you experienced. Have you tried running the Dell diagnostics tests? I wonder if you have some bad RAM. 0
