Remove blank keywords

Is there a way to programmatically remove blank keywords?

When files come from Lightroom the keywords are often mixed case. I have a vb script the converts all keywords to lowercase. I would like to delete the left over blank keywords automatically.

Any ideas?

Also is there an API manual somewhere? I can't find it on PhaseOne's site.
