Not a home run, but better than Lightroom
OK, so much complaining, and I agree with much of it. There are features missing that I want back, particularly the ability to automatically process in a directory under the source, or the ability to set default saturation, etc.
However, as a new D300 owner, I couldn't use my copy of C1Pro, and had to use the brutal Capture NX or Lightroom. In Lightroom, you have to select the directory you want to process to, just like C1 v4. And Lightroom is PAINFUL in workflow, as you have to wait a long time for each photo to fully load. Can't stand using it.
This may not be all I need, but it's not hard to select all and boost saturation right at the beginning, and then to select my output directory.
Bottom line, this product does great output. My NEF/Raw files look so good, and so much better than JPG. I had given up on shooting RAW because of what I had available to process before now. I'll live with the quirks and I'm getting the output I want.
I'm not totally POed at PO, but really want the upgrade to C1Pro 3.x that supports the D300. And if they managed to add the excellent shadow/highlight boost, I may never upgrade to Pro v4.
So, I'm disappointed, but not suicidal as some of you seem. And I'm WAY more pleased than I was yesterday. I'm shooting RAW again with my D300. And if I ever click on Lightroom again, just shoot me.
And if Bibble supports the D300 soon, I'm giving them a real shot.
