capture / Edit / Store / output -> workflow.
I am having a hard time working out which C1 files I need to carry around with me from the first edit, through to archiving to ensure I don't loose settings etc. I have files raw files formatted as IIQ (p45), NEF (various Nikon cameras), DNG (various Leica).
I often edit files on a laptop, add metadata, check focus, select and trash. Occasionally I adjust white balance and tweak exposure. Sometime in the middle of the night I transfer (automatically) files from the laptop to my network, make backups, position files for media pro work etc. Later on I actually work on those files by copying them to a working folder, doing more work, maybe with photoshop, maybe with another tool or set of tools.
So what to do with the XMP, cos, cof files? Do I need them? Is there away to operate with out a session. Sometimes sessions work. But often they don't. And how is media pro supposed to fit into all of this. Which files does it need? Are there any notes on what workflow will work. I am looking for real world.

Pack EVERYTHING as EIP!!:-)
you can set it to pack files on import and then you never loose your settings again. Just because files are inside a specific session doesnt mean that you need to use the session to further work the files. In fact once I get back to base with a session it gets put on to the working raid and then gets processed out in a session that is called _processing_Oct2011
hope that helps0
