Applying Hierarchical keywords
When I created a Hierarchical keyword and a number of subterms, I expected all the subterms to be applied to the image when I drag it to the top keyword but that doesn't happen, only the top keyword is applied. That doesn't sound right to me.
Am I doing something wrong?

You drag it to the lowest one you wish applied and all the others above it are applied ,this is much better than the way you expect it to work.
For example if you had a Hierarchical list like so animal> wildlife>bird> songbird> black bird>, then dragging a black bird image to the keyword blackbird would apply all the others above it to the image, dragging it to bird would just apply the top three.0 -
Thanks Paul, but mine doesn't work that way either. If I drag an image to any keyword in the Hierarchical list, only that keyword is applied.
The only way I have found to make is work is to select (highlight) all the keywords in the Hierarchical stack and right-click "Apply to Image"

Rick - Are you on a Mac or a Windows pc.
Mine works as Paul said his does - I can select a key word from the list, and then right click on it and ask it to apply it to the selected. It and all the words "above" it get applied. I have a windows 7 system.0 -
Jim, thanks for pointing that out. I am on a Mac so I wonder if this is a Mac-specific issue or a me-specific issue.

It is not a general Mac issue, it works for me on Mac. 0 -
Thanks, I will start troubleshooting at my end then.

Hi Rick how did you build your keyword list? Did you use one placeholder with all other keywords under that placeholder. Then the behavior sound correct. If you build your list with one placeholder and under it your keywords arranged like a folder structure, then when you apply the lowest keyword in the structure all upper keywords should be applied to the image.

Emmanuel,
I think I built the list the proper way. The subterms are indented like a folder structure and collapse under the top keyword when the pointer is clicked.
I've tried it on two separate catalogs now with no luck.
