    I did the same and had success on my G4 powerbook, BUT...I had to manually install the 10.4.7 updated IOUSBFamily.kext file (v. 2.5.6) from http://developer.apple.com/hardwaredriv ... debug.html

    Yes if you had downgraded to the 10.4.6 usb kext to make C1 work with 10.4.7, and you have done the 10.4.8 system update, it needs the 10.4.7 usb kext that it expected to have.

    I used the "combo" updater instead of the incremental one, I don't know if that helped

    I am having the same problem with my 5D using a macbook I just bought. This machine already has 1.4.8.

    Should I still try to update?

    @all

    the bug is inside OSX ! no matter if 10.4.6/10.4.7/10.4.8

    FORGET apple updates !

    to fix it:
    get latest canon drivers !
    update the system/OSX first and then reinstall the canon utilities to overwirte the usb/firewire protocols of OSX

    like this it is fixed !!
    Bug is known by apple, not officially - wonder why !

    Any other suggestions? I've updated to 10.4.8 and then I updated the Canon Utility (although I'm not sure what this software is for) and I keep getting a "Connection failed error: 0c000080" Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Chris

    Now I'm getting failed to receive capture error after I take a photo. The camera is being read by Capture One but it's not receiving the capture? Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Starky:

    I found your posts while running into the exact same problems under the same conditions. Article ID 1885 says you have to designate a new session and folder, which got C1P working for me.
