    I sure hope so.
Right now I can't send anything from MP to CO8. I have been told by tech support that a fix to CO8 will be coming.
At the same time, they will need to issue an update to MP so that it has the CO8 engine.

    Jim,

opening files from Media Pro in Capture One 8 should work as it did in CO7. Do you get an error message or is it as if nothing happened? Do you use catalogues or sessions in Capture One?

    Cheers,
    -Sascha

I use sessions. I can have CO8 open, then in MP I select a couple of photos to open in CO8. Nothing happens.
I use this all the time in CO7.
Technical support responded to my service ticket and said a fix will be coming soon in the next release of CO8.

Also: I added CO8 as Helper Application in Action -> Open With. When I do not have CO8 open, select a picture and choose 'Open with Capture One', CO8 is opening, but the last session is openend instead of the selected Picture. Does anybody else has observed this behaviour?

I am also looking forward to the improvements ... I bought, but I do not think I made a good choice.

The new version 8.01 not only solves not the problem, but it still worse. Now, C1 8 no longer opens. I´m very disappointed.

    I just downloaded CO 8.01.
I still cannot send a single file (or multiples) from MP to CO 8 and have it open in a session (new or otherwise). I have CO 8 open when I try this.

Same here Jim, very disappointing! This just reinforces my opinion that Media pro is being left to wither on the vine as I stated before and we can expect little or no improvements to it in the future and of course no denial from Phase one while they can still sell it to a unsuspecting public or until such a time as it is generating no revenue and they can discontinue it.

Funny is it not that if you make such insinuations on the CO sector some moderator always jumps to its defence with a answer or a put down but here not a peep, this I think speaks volumes.

I for one will not be upgrading at the moment till things are clearer and I can make a reasoned decision, also as someone who hates phase ones catalog system (it is archaic compared to LR5) I may decide that a return to LR5 may be my only option.

Paul, in my opinion their behavior is approaching immoral, if not criminal. They continue to sell a product with no apparent intention to make it work the way they market it. I can't recall the last time we saw someone from Phase One on this forum trying (at a minimum) to tell us to be patient.

I find that I can't use CO 8 in its present form without wasting inordinate amounts of time. I shoot both a lot of sports, as well as birds. I end up with 400- 500 shots (or more) from a shoot and I will generally only post process 5-10 of them. At least with CO 7, I can send these few over to CO 7 from MP into a session. With CO 8 I am stuck spending a lot of wasted time importing all these photos into a session or a catalog.

And you are right -- the CO 8 catalog is primitive at best. It is unlikely that they will ever catch LR as a catalog.

I have moved over to Lightroom to handle my master catalog. It is stable, and quite quick. I can quickly cull, rate, and keyword my photos. Then, I use a small MP catalog to import the photos after LR is done. This is fairly quick and stable as well ( as long as I keep it small). Then I can send the few highly rated shots I need to a CO7 session. This seems clumsy, but it actually works well for me.

I fear that the final straw for me will be if PO actually brings out a new version of MP to work with CO 8, and they call it V2, and want to sell it to me as an upgrade.

It should be noted that it is no longer possible to open PO 8 via a right mouseclick on a RAW-file (Mac). Maybe this works a single time, but the second time not more. In PO 7 and all other RAW converters (DXO, LR5) this works without problems.

    A new result -
I downloaded and installed the latest build of CO8.1.16
    I created a new session,
I opened MP and selected a photo. I selected Open with CO 8. Nothing happened, like before.

HOWEVER - if I right clicked on the photo, I could drag it into the CO session where I chose responses of "Do not Overwrite" for existing meta data and "Yes" to place images in Albums that match ...
I could then open and work on the single photo.

Strange operation, but this makes me happy.
MP still won't show the results of what CO does, but this goes a long ways for me.

Jim you can also create a album in CO8 then drag multiple image from MP to it, which is the way I am working at the moment not ideal but better than nothing.

Interesting. Why did you choose their Catalog and not a Session.
    What am I missing?

I did not Jim, I was in a session, you can create a album in sessions which is pretty well the same as a catalog in Media Pro, and you can remove images from it or add images to it or delete the album, the images remain untouched.

Thanks. I never used albums to any extent.

And I have pretty much made up my mind to stick with Lightroom for the majority of my work, and use CO7 for portraits where I can control the skin color much better; especially in uncontrolled light. Phase One has really let me down with MP, and it looks like they will never integrate the CO8 engine into MP. At least with CO7, I can see what I have done.
