Media Pro and iMac 27" Retina's high resolution
I have been using 'Media Pro' and it's predecessors for many years. Mostly I have been very happy with it. The only mentionable problems have been with changing ownerships and naming of the application and subsequent registration issues.
That is, until yesterday, when suddenly the application failed to open with a message stating the obvious: that it could not be started. Rebooting my Mac did not help, but reinstalling an updated (1.5) Media Pro did. Except the problem reappeared, and I had to reinstall once again. I really hope this behaviour does not persist, as with thousands of tagged photos I've grown rather dependant on media Pro.
But the primary issue I want to raise here is with how Media Pro copes, or rather doesn't cope, with new, high screen resolutions. I have always found it convenient to use MP also as a tool for browsing my photos in full resolution or scaled to my screen size. However, since I got my new iMac with it's resolution of 5120 x 2880 pixels, this doesn't work at all well. MP obviously believes that my screen resolution is 2560 x 1440 (like it was on my previous iMac). It is annoying of course that the percentages I get when scaling my photos are all incorrect, but the fact that the rendering of my photos is not at all satisfactory anymore is much worse. I get jagged edges at any scale. Consequently I have had to resort to the venerable 'Graphic Converter' to study or enjoy my photos in all their glory on my glorious new screen. If Thorsten Lemke can get it right, I suspect 'Phase One' can too. At least that is what I'm hoping.
