when a bug it is a feature.
So here is the problems.
If you use the library tab to create folders to use in capture one, to separate files, or whatever, using the plus sign in the folders section you can NOT delete that folder using the minus sign. What happens is that the file is deleted from the library but not from the disk. Now logic would indicate that if by clicking the plus sing and I actually write to disk, when I click the minus sign I should delete from disk right?? Well I spoke to customer support and indicated that no! this is how it works....
OK... ๐ ๐ ๐

Indeed.
Creating something that doesn't exist is intentional and welcoming. Deleting, however, is a delicate process.
Capture One is built to be a read only software. You can read a RAW file but not edit it. You can create a new file (TIFF JEPG, etc) but when it comes to deleting it we're proactive in giving you adequate warning.
Better to error on the side of having to remove a file or folder manually, than have to purchase and run recovery software for an errant mistake.
We understand that a well versed user may find this inconvenient but we'd rather the complaint come from an inconvenience than a detriment. The tool works this way by design. If a folder you wish to add does not exist, we'll be happy to create it for you. If a folder exists but you wish it removed, we'll take it out of the catalog but leave the physical deletion from the HD to you, for the sake of safety, sanity, caution, etc.
At the end of the day, we'd rather professionals complain we're too protective as appose to frivolous with their hard earned work. It's been a policy of Phase One from day one and we continue it whenever applicable.0 -
Drew... a simple warning catalog would suffice, but we will not argue anymore about it. Not a big a deal. The white token boxes is a much more pressing issue. 0 -
Warning boxes are always an option but we really have to draw a line somewhere in terms of what's an obnoxious and unnecessary warning box vs what you should be aware of as a user.
In this case we figured another warning box on a deliberate action was a bit much. No? Is there a demand for more warning boxes for actions that may not effect everyone?[quote="alececco" wrote:

You've got apples unannounced changes to thank for that ๐
Maybe get a PC?
We're on it and will have a fix in the next update.0 -
Drw you know, it is because your program and I am beginning to like you. But sometimes your answers leave speechless. You dont want to put a warming box but you go against logic on an action such as delete a folder. OK.... I am looking forward in having a beer with you in Copenhagen this coming winter.

๐ sorry, but I am NOT speechless - I must laugh.. the warning dialogue which is useless for majority... majority, which would like to 'PHASEONE - SURPRISE!!! - WAKE UP!!! - DELETE' because - yes I am really, really sure I want to...
And it's ridiculous, because: "..we're proactive in giving you adequate warning.." are you sure? I am not sure I've so much space for orphans..
You guys should be more sure about much more things - eg: YES, we have very cheap backup/restore SW as part of our OS - indeed MacOS offers TimeMachine as part of OSX. But you in PO are not able to handle Catalog properly, trying to persuade us - that we are the wrong/bad and ugly here. But we want to delete... and because we are paying you - actually wait - I am still not, I am still in Trial period - and you can guess - will I spend my รขโยฌรขโยฌ if I read answers and explanations you're providing??
Well.. I am not sure.. I don't like to be treated as person who don't know what is doing.
