White Balance Presets missing
Hi
I'm using Capture one 9.0.1 and I don't have access to the white balance presets. I just have "as shot"
Files are in raw format.
It's really frustrating as I'm moving from Lightroom to Capture One and one of the first things I do in my workflow is to adjust the white balance
How do I get the white balance presets back?
Thanks

One or more cameras?
Which one(s)
What is the RAW file format?
There are some instances where the camera's presets (or their interpreted equivalents) seem not to be available. So "as shot" is all that can be offered.
However with full RAW files that really makes no difference since you can easily set a WB and it may well be more appropriate than how the camera saw the scene.

Thanks Grant
My camera is a Nikon D4s and the files are raw (dng)
I know I can custom the white balance in Raw files but the presets are a good start and sometimes the best option.
So if Capture One has white balance presets they should be available like in Lightroom
The transition from Lightroom to Capture One is not that easy
Thanks anyway Grant0 -
There is nothing magic with the preset from Nikon, they are standard K values.
Use manual WB and use "as shot" or use a proper target to set the wb off in post.
BUT if you still want to use the "presets" from your Nikon, simply adjust the slider to the corresponding K value.

Thanks so much Paul
Very useful tip 😊
Happy holidays for everybody

No problem Antonio!
Once you'r familiar with the different Kelvin values, getting the wb in the ballpark gonna be second nature to you, for fine-tuning you can use the tint.
This might be a good resources:

Why use DNG files from your D4S instead of NEF? Do you have the presets available if you use NEF?

I suspect that the DNG file is the source of the limitation.
It sounds like the WB has been "burned in" - or at least the options available in the NEF are no longer included in the DNG and so "as shot" (meaning "as the DNG was created) is all that is left.

I can confirm this "limitation" is due to the DNG format.
I used to convert most my raw files to DNG for the simple reason i used Adobes suite more or less exclusively, and while i welcome a "standard" raw format i now stopped using DNG for the simple reason it's far from "standard". In fact the use of it will risk compatibility with future software tools, much more so then native formats from my experience.0 -

I agree and have seen the same thing.
Even Jeff Schewe is not proponent for DNG, in most cases.
Dump DNG.0 -
Yeh, unfortunately DNG is only great if you stick to Adobe world, but seems not working great elsewhere. 0
