C1 Pro 4..... Issues... Please FIX ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!
BAD POINTS
No feature to toggle on and off settings
No function to adjust settings with the arrow keys on the keyboard
Curves dialogue is too small and not as fluid as 3.7.9 or ideally ACR. levels dialogue is also too small. is this a professional program or what?
No ctrl click to quickly access arrange by/sort feature.
No independent focus window to evaluate focus
whilst shooting with scaleable size for refresh speed
Crop dimensions-pulldown menu with presets was so much quicker to access in 3.7.9
No indication of how many shots remain in camera buffer with canon 1Ds MK3
Generally slow and unresponsive to adjustments of input fields compared to 3.7.9
Sessions not backward compatable with 3.7.9, what am I meant to do with all my old sessions on which I've spent hours adjusting?
Keep the sessions organised like is 3.7.9 with drag and drop functionality and an option not to have a 'move to' folder
Interface is hard to read, too small. there should be an option to view as black text on light gray. Interface hard to use with a wacom tablet GUI too small and fidely. An option to view the interface in a classic 3.7.9 look.
No ability to edit the curve or levels per channel
No colour correction per channel or targeted to shadows midtones and highlights
GOOD POINTS.
processing is faster than 3.7.9
processed image quality is improved
improved sharpening algorithms
customizable shortcuts
able to stop jumping to the latest image when shooting tethered
SUGGESTIONS.
Web contact sheet seems to be the fastest way to create jpegs
a better option would be to just have a fast jpeg preset in the process tab, that will place the jpegs in the process folder without all the irrelevant html if it isn't needed
Keep the shortcuts the same
Can we keep the naming of functions the same, why does it now have to be output instead of process
A common workflow for Professional photographers is to use a capture program to asses the file quality of the images (focus, shadow/highlight detail, posterization, moire etc.) and organise them into folders. Most colour work is done in Photoshop on flat files by retouchers. Lets see an application that does these things fast! Don't slow down the workflow by over complicating the software!

Quite a few points to take into consideration indicated above that would certainly benefit the program and the people who use it. Let me also add that the file browser that I keep vertically on the left of the main viewer always returns to the first image of a series (I have it in 'Auto' mode), it never sticks to the image that I'm currently viewing. While the latter image remains selected, and is the one I see in the viewer, the browser always shows the initial images, which can prove bothersome for subsequent navigation. 0 -
I sure hope Phase One are reading these posts and addressing these issues as we speak. I worked with Capture One Pro 4 today, of which the processed files were brilliant! but the art director and Photographer on the shoot, who both know their way around 3.7.9 well. Were incredibly frustrated that functions were not the same with 4.5. I was told to revert back to the old version because they had no time to learn new software. There were Photographs to be taken, that's where their attention was. Not fumbling around un-intuitive software. Keep in simple phase! Let photographers stay focused on creating images. 0 -
I agree with the last post, this new software is totally counter intuitive.... it just does not function as well as 3.7.9 from a user friendliness standpoint. 0 -
Yes, some very good suggestions and I also want to stress the alterations to the session structure is very anoying. I happen to really like the new version apart from this. I find it is so counter productive to have to keep selecting which folder to download to when importing from a memory reader. Because an image was not shot tethered to the computer, why does C1 4.5 assume it shouldn't be imported into a capture folder by default? Its just more mouse clicking and if you forget an option during an import you then have to go searchig the HD directory and drag the images back to the session capture folder.
We want Capture, Processed and Trash folders back please. It worked so well in 3.7, who on earth had the great idea of changing it and confusing the hell out of us simple photographers.0 -
Another problem- tethered with 1DsIII I see no image on the back of the camera and must wait for it to appear on the computer.
Why can't the image appear on the rear LCD first as it does in DPP, with Phase backs, etc?
However IQ is much improved- color, focus, NR, all much better. And part of the interface problems is just about getting used to them. That said I do hope Phase is listening- many of the posted suggestions will make the program even better.0 -
One more thing I would like is with the output naming, can we have the option for job name only and not to have the counter.
Makes life confusing when your processing files up for approval and then re-processing for final images as the counter numbers don't tally up. Makes much more sense in C1 3.7 if the job name changes there is only the job name and no counter. If the job name was the same, -1, -2, -3 etc was used after the name.
Hope this makes sence?0 -
the import counter would be great if you could pick the number of digits in the counter. i have very often have to name more than one thousand images with the same job name and lacking this option make more work for later. please allow 5 digits again. 0 -

Maybe the Capture folder does not work in the way you are were familiar with in 3.7.x (import defaults to Capture folder), but I do not understand how the Processed (=Output) and Trash folder work differently in CO 4.5.x.0 -

You could use the option Job and Sub Name and leave the Sub Name blank (=default). You can find the Sub Name field on the Advanced tab of the Process Recipe tool on the Output tool tab.0 -
Yes I know I can get around this with sub names, new folders etc but in 3.7 I didn't nee to do any of that. It was just simpler. 0 -
One more BIG request, SVP- Please add a vibrancy slider in addition to the saturation slider.
As most know this adds saturation without blowing out colors- i.e. good for bringing out skin tones, etc.
Aperture has it, Lightroom has it, ACR has it. I find it a great addition, and the main adjustment missing in terms of setting up images to process. It's the one processing area where Capture One doesn't seem up to date.
Thanks Phase One-

Vibrancy is bulit in. If you push saturation (more than zero) vibrancy is applied. If you are lowering saturation it's the old way (without vibrancy).

If that's the case, I suggest separating the 2 controls. It's nice to have control of how much saturation and how much vibrancy to put in, vs. Capture One doing it automatically, in my opinion.0 -

In Pro actually there are 2 controls. Second is overall saturation in the Color Editor.
