Metadata from Photo Mechanic

Hello,

when importing pictures that have been edited in Photo Mechanic (applying keywords and IPTC data via stationery pad), the creator field in C1 Pro (v 10) is filled in twice. Here is a screenshot:

Does anybody know why this happens and how to avoid it?

    You can verify exif data with Phil's EXIF tool, it might be in there twice (in different fields) before import? Maybe they're merged...

    It's only in C1 Pro that this occurs.

    I don't, but I suspect it is a bug and I think you should report it.

    Is Photo Mechanic embedding the metadata into the raw file and a XMP sidecar file? Is C1 adding any metadata when you import images?

    can you please post a Screenshot of the "IPTC Info Window" of one exampleimage. I also use PM and the creatorfield is not doubled.
    I also think, that C1 is merging two fields.

    Photo Mechanic can embed metadate in the raw file or the XMP. And no, no metadata added on import.

    No need for a screenshot, my name is only in the "creator/photographer" field under "image rights" in the IPTC info pad.
    No code replacements going on either btw ...

    After further investigation, I found out that the creator is doubled only when IPTC info is written into the raw file. When writing only to sidecar file, everything is ok.

    Since writing into the raw file is bad practice anyway (I probably should never have done this), I will change to writing metadata to XMP sidecar files.

    It remains a mystery to me why the creator field is doubled, still waiting for an answer from the support team. They have contacted me asking about my settings one day after opening a support case, I gave them the information and will wait for an explanation.

    For those interested in this: it's officially a bug. Will be hopefully resolved in a coming version ...
