How to change C1 behavior after crash?

After C1 crashes (for any reason) and I reopen the app, the session I was working on does not reopen. Instead, a previous session opens. This can be awkward when clients are standing around staring at the monitor. How can I change C1's behavior in this situation? I would prefer the "Recents" menu that opens if I hold down the option key to be the default behavior (so that I don't have to actually hold down the option key). Is this possible?

    Short answer, no.

    Long answer: Capture One opens with the last opened session(s) and/or catalog(s), as you know. This is written into the preference file on closing Capture One. On Mac, you can close all sessions/catalogs before you close CO8. This will bring up the Recent list you referred to when you open CO8 again.

    Now for the crash: when CO8 crashes it is not able to write the last opened session/catalog to the preference file. As a result, the previous value is still there, which explains what you described.

    Only closing all sessions/catalogs before closing CO8 will guaranteed bring up the Recent dialog on opening CO8.

    You can also go to ~/user/Library/Preferences and delete any .plist files called "com.phaseone.___" or "com.captureone.___" before restarting C1. This should open the recent sessions dialog upon restart, though you may have to reset your workspace and a couple other preferences. This will also help prevent subsequent crashes.

    Please be aware that since Mavericks deleting the preferences does not delete the preferences. They are cached elsewhere. This applies to all application on OS X. Follow the instructions from point 6 in:

    Thanks Paul & George. Will give the your tips a shot. As an aside, I have noticed that deleting the prefs files really does help with the random crashes I've experienced when tethering up a camera (both Phase and Canon).
