sorting and renaming problems
sorting issues not solved: this was originally posted on rawworkflow.com to Michael Tapes. I'm desperate for help--hope someone here will have a solution.

Michael: I requested help several days ago with the renaming, sorting issues. You asked me to send you 2 files from different cameras that the software was reading the date/time incorrectly. I tried several times to do that, but my email program (Microsoft Outlook) wouldn't allow me to send even one file at a time, because the file was too large. I have since done extensive tests with the 20D and 10D, and here is what I have discovered:
When both cameras are synchcronized (time and date), and I download them first to a folder on the hard drive--the time is displayed accurately in the Windows browser. However when I open the files in C-One It displays the time for the 10D as one hour later. The files from the 20D are displayed accuratley. We tried setting the 10D one hour earlier than the 20D, and C-One then displayed time captured as the same for both cameras. However, it still wouldn't sort the files by capture date. It sorts by file type (CRW files placed together and IMG files from the 20D placed together.) I also cannot get Adobe PS (CS) to sort them by time captured. It lumps the files from one camera together. There seem to be two issues here--1. Capture One software doesn't accurately recognize the capture date from the 10D, and 2. even when the date has been forced to be recognized as the same from 2 cameras, the program still won't sort by capture date. Here's what I have done so far with my 1100 files from last Sat.'s wedding: I made quickproofs and renamed the files in C-One starting with 00001.file extension, 00002.file extension, etc. The files were sorted by name for each camera used--20D, 10D, and D60. The program wouldn't sort them any other way. Both the 10D and the D60 were displayed as 1 hour late--although the cameras were synched. Quickproofs were edited down to approx. 950, and I then opened them in the photoshop browser, and spent 6 hours sorting them one by one to get them in sort of the right order that they were shot in. Remember that I have files from 3 cameras all shooting at the same time--ceremony, cake, etc. After I had them sorted, I tried to rename them in PS, by adding 1 digit to the front of each file--thus maintaining the original file name corresponding to my raw file--so that when the client orders 170 plus of these files that she is viewing on my website, I will still be able to identify the raw file that I need to print from. PS renamed about 300 of the files, and then went into a program error, and didn't finish them. I had told the browser to put the renamed files in a new folder to avoid confusion. I wrongly assumed that the originals would stay in the first folder. When I open the \"newly named\"folder in PS browser--they aren't even sorted in the order in which I placed them! If I open that folder in the Windows browser, they are displayed correctly--renamed and sorted as I wished them to be. The renamed files looked similar to this: 1000015.jpg, 1000020.jpg, 12500209.jpg, (in the immediate preceding file, the 00209.jpg would have been the original quickproof filename to which the renaming function would have added 125) I know this is all pretty confusing, so I'm trying to give you as much information as I can to help you understand. First of all, do you know how to help me solve the problem I have now with this wedding, and do you know how I can avoid it happening again--Even when I am setting the time up on the 10D, C-One won't sort by capture date. BTW--I loaded some of the files on a different computer, and it read exactly the same. My assistant loaded his D60 files from this same job on his computer, opened them in C-One and the time was displayed accurately. I just don't have a clue what to do next. I need to get these images on my website by tomorrow, and I can't put them up unsorted. Please tell me you have a solution! Thanks for your help--

Let's try to brake it down.
1. Different file in sort order, you can provide it as a feature request, you can do that by using the provide feedback in the sofware, I know this does not help you right now.
2. Time difference, check if this is the timestamp in EXIF or creating day in computer.0 -
Dear Ulf: Thanks for your reply. Yesterday, I downloaded the pre-release version of 3.7 Pro version. My understanding is that since I own SE, I will automatically be upgraded to Pro when 3.7 is released. I wanted to test the new version to see if it would solve the problem. Here is the problem condensed: I use 2 0r 3 different cameras on event photgraphy: Canon D60, 10D and 20D. Testing on cameras has proven that even when all are shynchronized to same time and date, Capture One assigns an incorrect time --one hour later to 10D and D60 files. 20D files are displayed with correct time and date. Therefore I can not sort by capture date--which is vital when shooting with different cameras on an event. I have tested version 3.7 and it also assigns incorrect time on 10D files--this is in exif data. When I look at these files exif data in other software programs, time is accurate on all camera files. I hope this clears up my question to you. Thanks--

I can confirm what Connie is saying.
I checked some images I shot today with my 10D and both CO 3.6 and 3.7RC1 add one hour to the shot time.
3.5.2(SE) DO NOT add one hour so it seems that this bug was introduced in 3.6.
I will add this as a bug in the 3.7.RC1 forum.0 -
This bug still remains, at least for the 10D, in the final release of 3.7. 0
