Free upgrade!!!
I purchased C1 4 yesterday online... about 11 hours before the release of C1 5.
I'm hoping to get the upgrade at no charge.
What are my chances?

The Terms and conditions have been updated since then, this is a old terms and condition that was applicable to Capture One 3. 0 -
In a somewhat related topic...
I received an email from Calumet Photographic yesterday... it seems they are offering a C1 Workshop for $49 INCLUDING C1 5.
WTF?!0 -
49 USD? 50% discount, that sounds like a good deal!
Note that this is not the PRO version!0 -
Yep. $49 USD. AND it includes live instruction... (which I need, but I've already bought the software) 0 -
I purchased a camera on Dec. 24, 2009 that came with Capture One. Unfortunately it was Capture One v4.1. I guess the box had been sitting around a while. When I contacted Phase One to see if I could get a free upgrade, since v 5 was already out when I purchased the camera, I was told I had to pay for the upgrade.
Moreover, when I downloaded v5 to try it out today, it deactivated my version 4 and I had to use up one of my activations to get v4 running again.
$99 is a very steep upgrade price as far as I'm concerned for the difference between v4 and v5.
I'm really disappointed with Phase One's customer service. The software is okay, but there are alternatives and Phase One is certainly not doing anything to make me want to continue to be their customer.

You can upgrade to CaptureOne 4.8.3 free of charge. I believe this version represents a considerable improvement over 4.1.[quote="NN182557UL" wrote:

You have not lost any activations. You can recover all of your activations by loggin in to your account on the PhaseOne web site and selecting 'Licence Management'. Here there is an option to de-activate all activations currently associated with a licence key. After you have done this you will then simply need to re-activate your exising installation of 4.x and you will have all of your remaining activations available.

Brent,
I may be mistaken but I believe I was the one that spoke to you in regard to your recent Leica purchase. As Leica purchased the keys from us, to package with their cameras, our hands are tied in regard to the version provided. As Version 4 was what they purchased from us, that is the version you are welcome to use.
You can use up to Capture One 4.8.3, which is the last release of that version and fully supports your camera. In other words, you still get what you paid for and we'd be happy to address any questions you have on that particular version when using your Leica Camera.
If you feel that Capture One 5 is a software more befitting the recent purchase please contact Leica. They may be able to work something out. As you have suspected, the camera has been on the shelf for some time as the version it was packaged with is over 1 year old.0 -
Thanks Wade for the info about activations. And thank you Drew for your reply. While I don't necessarily like your company policy, I have no choice but to accept it. That said, the upgrade price is a paltry discount over the full purchase price. As such it is not worth it for me to upgrade at this time. Perhaps when version 6 comes out, there will be enough difference between that and version 4 for me to justify paying the upgrade price.

Brent,
Again, check with the company that provided you the Key. They may have a solution for you.0
