Auto Adjust
Hi all,
in many situations I run Auto Adjust (exposure, HDR, levels) after checking / setting first WB and crop/format to get a starting point for further tweaks. Over the time I noticed that the values for contrast and saturation choosen in the Auto Adjust are always the same (doesn't matter the camera model or exposure situation / contrast / vibrance of colours in the image. So my question is whether these values can be changed by default so that Auto Adjust uses those changed defaults? For example I mostly change from the default +7 contrast to 0 or slight negative values which I apply to the whole set via the "copy adjustment" function.
Another question is related to the perception that Auto Adjust hardly provides a reasonable starting point for night shots (or stage shots). Some slight shadow lifting may be ok. But dark corners in the night hardly cotain any valueable detail and so they should remain dark - which BTW is a look much closer to the actual natural perception of the scene (w/o night view device 😊 )
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

If you find yourself using the same starting values over and over again, you could consider saving those as defaults? That way new pictures will automatically get your preferred values. 0 -
Does this mean that executing Auto Adjust would use those defaults?
Or does it mean those defaults would be used on importing new photos?
BTW I noticed that sometimes it could be very handy to be able to change the exposure adjustment for a selected set of photos for a fixed value, i.e. to increase/decrease the different adjustment values of the individual images relative to the actual value for a certain amount (+0,10 or -0,20 or so).
Thanks, MF0 -

The second suggestion is correct.0 -
Hi Paul,
thanks for the feedback. Already imagined it would work this way which I don't consider very practical though because when Auto Adjust would be executed after importing with the changed defaults, all values would change then to the ones calculated by the Auto Adjust function (or the respective fixed values).0 -
Christian's suggestion was that you would use new default instead of the Auto Adjust, not both (at least, that is how I read it). 0 -
Hi, Paul
I got that. Anyhow contrast is only one of the settings to work with and for the other parameters I think Auto Adjust provides a good starting point for further tweaking. If then it's not possible to tweak Auto Adjust to use as default a lesser contrast value I'll continue to work the other way around applying a reduced contrast setting after Auto Adjust.0 -
Hi, Michael11 and Paul!
I have same question as Michael: how to tweak +7 contrast value aplied afer Auto Adjust? I clearly understand topic about camera defaults for new imported RAWs, but it's not the same as Auto Adjust for Exposure. So, if only we can edit constant "auto-contrast " to the lower value, it would be perfect tool. May it be as a hidden feature in registry or in configuration files? Btw, is there any official feature request form or "wish list" to add?0 -
Hi,
The Auto Adjust is not configurable as it is now, to the best of my knowledge. It is hardcoded, so to speak.
You can do an official feature request in a support case with Phase One.
