New capture folder / selects folder greyed out on Windows
I am moving from OSX to Windows. With OSX:
Selects folder > *right click* > new > selects folder
Capture folder > *right click* > new > capture folder
These functions are fundamental to my workflow on OSX. I create new capture folders and selects folder and move images around constantly both during the shoot and during the editing process.
On my Windows install these are greyed out. I contacted support and they replied:
Support: "I have just tried this and found it is an issue. I have reported this to our development team to be fixed."
Just updated to 12.1 and the bug has not been fixed.
The reply made me assume this was a "eureka moment" that I had discovered and reported a new bug. Then I found post from literally a year ago in legacy v11 version reporting the issue. I also found another post dating to 2016 that also seems to point to the same issue.
Post in legacy from 2018: viewtopic.php?f=72&t=28508
Post from 2016: viewtopic.php?f=62&t=24415
Am I the only person that has a problem with this? Is this a new bug in v12 or is this a 3 year old bug that Phase One has never fixed for Windows? This is a huge headache for me trying to switch operating systems.
Thanks for any help.

Wow, no replies...
I contacted support to find out when they were made aware of the bug.
Hi,
The first reported bug on this is for Capture One 12.0.4.
You could check 12.0.3 or before if this problem exists or not.
Archive is here: https://www.captureone.com/en/download/archive
//Support
I tried:
12.0.0 Greyed out
11.3.2 Greyed out
10.2.1 Greyed out
9.2.... Greyed out
I'm not going to try v8.
Has this really been a Windows bug for this long and the developers have never fixed it?0 -
Support was confused by this as well.
They were helpful and figured out that I can add folders and change them in the system folders section below.
Which is actually confusing because that means it is not a system limitation.
In any case, it's a workaround.
They have filed a bug report and said there is not much more we can do right now but to wait for a software fix for it.0 -

One can only assume that no one using Windows works with that workflow or minds the extra steps needed to replicate it.
I have seen suggestions about pre-preparing the folder required in a session (maybe using a template if the pattern of activity is something required regularly) so that it contains all identifiable folder potential from the start. Perhasps, in the absence of the functionality you use on a Mac and assuming they have never made a Mac to Windows journey, they are not concerned by it?
I am guessing but it would be one explanation.

How weird... This used to work for me; but since a few weeks it stopped working.
This is highly problematic for me too!!!
Any news on this?

Hi Robert,
You can add new folders from the library view.
It's a slightly awkward workaround... but it works.0 -
Just tried this in Capture One 20.
Still not fixed.
I don't need *any* features in C1 20. I need them to fix these problems.
I don't have any intention to upgrade from v12 or buy a yearly sucbsription if I can't count on them to fix these bugs.
