Crashing
Using 4.6.1 on an Mac Pro, 16g memory and OS 10-5:
Loaded 50 images. Made a small white balance correction and applied it to half the images. Program crashed. Went back in and decided to dump a couple of rejected images. Move one image to the trash. Program crashed.
This is getting ridiculous. I've talk to some using the program on a PC and they are not having crashing problems like this.

4.6.1 does seem to be very unstable, this version is only required if you are using a p65+ back.
I downloaded 4.6.1 as the weekly update checker told me there was a new version available.. big mistake..
I have now returned to 4.6 and this version is very stable, my machine spec is similar to yours.
Not sure why this version of the software was made widely available it would have been better if Phase marked it as a Beta or RC update targeted only at users of p65+ backs.
I'm personally loving 4.6 it has some great features and is now 100% used in my studio and location workflow.

I agree with everything said. I've been using Lightroom but decided to give captue one 4.6.1 a try because for some of my 45+ images it does a much better job. However I'm getting crash after crash and when it is "working" it gets so slow it comes to a standstill. I'm on a Mac dual quad core with 8 gb ram. Hope the folks at Phase are working on these issues. I'm considering upgrading to a 65+ and all I will have is capture One for RAW processing. Eleanor 0 -

Currently, CO 4.6 instead of 4.6.1 is your best option, in particular if you have a Mac Pro. You can download 4.6 from the software archive download page.0 -

Got to agree. I have not had a crash since going back to 4.6.0 -
I have downgraded to 4.6.0 and am still getting crashes. Also what I'm getting with both 4.6.1 and 4.6.0 is very very slow re write on my files that are being worked on (I have a high end mac with high end graphics card, etc). When I'm changing a setting with a tool the display image goes to coarse pixels while I work the slider so i can't see fine adjustments right away. I have to stop the adjustment so the image can redraw. What is going on here? I'm thinking of upgrading to a P65 and this clumsy software function is unacceptable. are the Phase folks aware of this. I have no problems with Lightroom, it runs as smooth as silk on my machine. Anyone else having these issues with Capture One? Many thanks, Eleanor [quote="NN" wrote:

Eleanor,
You might go through a checklist I made recently to prevent crashing.

Thanks Paul. I'll go through your checklist..... I'm starting to get a handle on the Capture One workflow and am liking the results I see. Will look forward to 4.6.2! Eleanor [quote="Paul_E" wrote:

Move the application to the trash bin and install 4.6. If you still encounter crashes go through the list I mentioned in my previous post in the thread.0 -
hi paul,
when I go to my captureone library there are a lot of col files and maps can I delete them all and than start c1 again or is this wrong.
there are the following maps : capture
move to
output
trash
and the following files : capture one 1.col45
capture one.col
capture one.col45
is this OK or are these false files and maps and should I delete them.
regards frits0 -
From speaking with our customers and my own use...use 4.6 and leave 4.6.1 to the P65+ backs.

Hi Frits,
The *.col* files are session files and contain information about the session like the folders and sort order. When you delete the session file on a non-Pro version, CO will create a new at next startup. If you are a Pro user and you delete a session file, CO will ask at next startup to either look for it or create a new.
Any *.col file is old and used for pre 4.5 versions: can be deleted. Any *.col45 file is or can be current. I your case you have two similar *.col45 files in one folder. Hmmm. Start by moving them to another location, one at a time if you like the trial and error way and see what happens. Note that name of the current session is displayed on top in the middle of the Capture One screen.0 -
hi paul,
thank you I deleted the files with succes c1 is still going, but in my preferences i found a file called "captureone.crash.plist" is this important.
I want to remove the cptureone.plist file when I found it.
do you think I cn delete the crash file.

Yes, I think you can delete it. Although I do not know for sure, I assume the it is a crash-copy of the original plist file (created during a crash shutdown).0 -
hi paul,
I have some strange things at least I think.
when I was using 4.6.0 on my macpro intel with 5 gb I had never any crash.
The activityscreen said real mem about 400-500mb virt mem around 1,9-2,2 gb.
Now under 4.6.1 with same computer the activity screen says real mem about 350mb and virt mem about 1,3gb.
is that not strange.
Is that a cause of my crashes the smaller difference between the real mem and the virt mem.

No, I think that difference is not relevant. CO 4.6.1's tendency to crash (more often than 4.6) is due to changes Phase One made to the image core process or the like.0 -
hi paul,
thanks for your answers, deleting the col.files did a lot, i did not have a crash since I delete them, and I did a lot of shots.
I am waiting for 4.6.2
regards frits0 -
I was having constant crashing yesterday when processing in 4.6.1
I've downgraded to 4.6, which seems a bit better.
The frustrating thing is that when I submitted a support case about the renaming bugs in 4.6, the support person suggested they had been fixed in 4.6.1 and that I should install it. Phase need to get their story straight, is it only for P65+ owners, or have lots of other things been altered.
By the way, the renaming problems still occurred in 4.6.1 anyway!
All I can say is bring on version 4.7, which will hopefully give us all flash-backs to the 3.7.9 glory days, but may be even better!0 -
hallo
I removed 4.6.1 from my computer and reinstalled 4.6.0 no problems any more.
but now this morning after three or four shots I have no connection any more with my back and have to restart the computer.
this was not before I upgrade to 4.6.1.
did I forget something to delete.
befor my upgrading I had no such problems at all.
macpro intel 5gb

I have as many others just bought the D3X, and until the 4.6.2 release is done i will live with the 4.6.1 to convert my NEF files.. But but but.. I have a problem..
The program crash all the time.. Sometimes i only do small ajustments and still i crash..
I also have truobles with the batch which are stopping at time to time, and needs to be "restarted"..
Please PH1.. let me hear your answer to my troubles.. I have read from other users at this forum that you have som recomendations to solve this.. But i am sure that the only solution is to release the 4.6.2...
What do you say??
All the best - from at bit sad photographer...

Flemming,
Welcome to the forum. Have you already had the opportunity to READ any posting here? Like the one you replied to, for example, because it contained the solution to your problem (little help: install 4.6, not 4.6.1).0 -

Can you tell me where this Download page is? An exact address, please. I can't find it rooting around the downloads page. Thanks.0 -
