What do you please mean with "see"?
Is there only an icon or thumbnail visible in MediaPro or nothing (no file, no import) at all?

If it is just about the support of file "management" ( = import) in MediaPro, see the posting:
[The Capture One forum has migrated to a new platform, as a result all links to Capture One related postsstopped working and have been removed]
The correct display of thumbnail preview depends then of course on the rendering engine.

    Good question.
By "see" I mean no import at all. There is no icon, and the file count is wrong.

I have just submitted a support case.

As I have noted in the second posting, if MP does not import at all, it might be the file extension which is unknown.
For general support (not necessarily preview) of ANY file extenson you can update the corresponding control file. Edit the file "custom.txt" in the MP program installation sub directory "/Plug-ins/Importers/". See link in 2nd posting.

Thanks. But I don't believe it is the file extension. I can take the same exact file - and MP 1.3.0 imports it, 1.3.1 does not.
I sent the file to PO support.

Bottom line - my new HP laptop behaves differently than my desktop.
I loaded MP 1.3.0 onto the laptop, and it will not import a .psd file. The same file is imported on my desktop with the same software.

Unless someone has a great idea, I'll wait until service support comes back with an idea. In the meantime, I'll save my work as a tiff, not a psd.

I do not assume that selection of rendering engine in MP plays a role. But you can try to switch between "P1 rendering" and WIC rendering. If you like you can also provide on of your PSD files for download and some other MP users (like me) certainly like to test it on their machines.

    Thanks for the comments.

Unfortunately it is not the rendering engine. I have tried both of them. In the past, when I used a CO engine, MP imported them, it just didn't show an image. Now It simply ignores a file.

And thanks for the offer. I have already sent a file to PO for checking - and it worked fine for them. The fact that it works on my other machine also tells me it is the new laptop. The new laptop came with PSE Elements 10 on it which I installed after I 1st installed MP. Since it has a db function (which I don't use) it could be that it has a conflict with MP. Lightroom, which I also use, doesn't conflict on the other machine. I'll wait and see if service support comes up with any other ideas.

    What I heard was
"As these are Adobe Files, Adobe (or some third party software) will provide a windows Codec that will support the files. It is this Codec which Media Pro uses when the Windows Imaging Component is in use.

Please reference Adobe's sight to identify the Codec used."

Not at all helpful, as I have PSE Elements and Lightroom on the pc, all of which have "Adobe Codecs".
A visit to the Adobe site is close to useless.
Again, MP just does not even recognize that the file is there. It is not a rendering issue.

So it looks like I will convert to using tiffs full time.

I solved this problem myself by buying and installing the Codec pack from Fastpictureviewer. The side benefit is that I can now see my Canon raw file thumbnails in windows explorer, where the MS codec doesn't work with the Win 7 64 I use.
