Catalogue Size
Slowly converting from Aperture and I've noticed that my catalogue size is sitting at almost 100Gb, more than twice the size of the Aperture. The issue is most likely related to the preview size which is set on my iMac to 2560, as recommended.
I wonder what is the experience out there, if there is another setting that would offer a better balance of catalogue size vs performance/display quality? I have to say that while initial load of the catalogue is slow, especially comparing to Aperture, once loaded, performance is fine.

First and foremost, open a support case. Even if they cannot help you, thats one more case that will point them in the right direction.
Personally I think reducing your preview size would be a waste of time. My catalog size is half that of yours and I still find it too slow. So the gain you may see on opening, you may lose in actual editing performance.
The slow catalog performance is something that is on their end and needs to be addressed. I have been down the road of trying to get my system "up to par" with their software, and I'm here to tell you its a waste of time and money.
I'm not being cynical, I just would hate to see anyone else chasing that carrot.
But again, open that support case. It will benefit us all.0
