How do I load settings on a file in Capture One?
Hi all,
I've been trying for hours to find this and can't find a way. I have a series of RAW files that a photographer sent me and along with it the settings that he did in Capture One. But somehow I can't find how to apply those settings to the RAW files. I have the RAW files and a bunch of .plist files that are on an Image Settings folder. I tried everything, putting them all on the same folder, leaving them inside the Image Settings folder on the same folder as the RAW, tried opening them from Capture One (they appear grayed out and don't let me select them) and can't find a way to make it work. Any ideas from the seasoned users here?
Thanks in advance!
Andre

Hi Andre
I wonder what version the photographer and you are using… plist files?
Below is an image of Capture One 5 structure (an image is worth than a long talk ;- )

In Capture One 3 for Mac the folder + settings file structure is (was): <folder with raw files> / Capture One Settings / ImageSettings
The ImageSettings folder contains the .plist files. The structure is create by CO3 for you.
In the digital area it is necessary for photographers to get used to exchanging program and version information in addition to the image files, at least when you work with Capture One (and not limited to that application).
For getting your results fast (i.e. using the plist files), you can download CO3 LE or Pro (or DB if you have Phase One data back files) from the Phase One archive pages:
http://www.phaseone.com/en/Downloads/So ... chive.aspx
IIRC, CO 3.7.9 supports OS X 10.5.x. CO 3 Pro has a 30-days trial period.0 -
Thank you for your answers! I downloaded CO3 and tried putting the settings files on the right place but it makes no difference whatsoever. I don't know if it doesn't load the files or if there is no settings on the files that he gave me. Is there a way to make sure that a certain setting file was loaded? Or to load it manually to the image?
Thanks again,

To be sure that CO3 loads the settings in the plist file, my workflow would probably something like this:
1. place raw files on hard disk (without the settings files you received or remove the ImageSettings folder)
2. start CO3, open folder with raw files; browse through files with CO3; this will create the folder structure; do a few "unwanted" corrections like white balance = tungsten or crop images like a crazy horse
3. open a different folder with CO3 before closing CO3
4. restore plist files to the proper location (ImageSettings sub folder of your raw files folder)
5. start CO3, open the folder with raw files; the tungsten white balance or crop should be gone, assuring you that the new plist files are read0
