NIK plug-ins and Capture One
Hi
I am currently an Aperture user concerned at the apparent direction Apple is taking with Photos. I am seriously interested in Capture One if the final version of Photos appears not to be suitable for my purposes.
Can anyone comment/advise please whether the NIK plug-ins can be used easily with Capture One, as I am keen to keep NIK in my workflow. I don't mind a workaround so log as it is reasonably simple and quick!
Thanks,
Phil

Yes, NIK works just as seamlessly with Capture One as it did with Aperture. I've been trying it out recently as a potential replacement as well (along with LightRoom).
More info on my findings here...

My biggest concern about switching to Capture One is the performance... Making adjustments is very laggy on my 2013 Mac Pro with 6-core CPU and dual D500 GPUs. I drag a slider, twiddle my thumbs, and wait for the image preview to update 😭0 -
I have just switched from Aperture and Nik does work great.
With regard to performance, I have a late 2012 i5 iMac. It is slower than aperture, but not hugely for me and all sliders seem instant.0 -
I have found that all NIK products work except for the HDR Efex Pro 2. Has anyone been able to use this? 0 -
How is NIK integrated with Capture One? What is the workflow people are using? 0 -

Right-click on the image you want to edit in NIK, select "Open with...", in the dialog box that pops up, select the NIK plugin you prefer, or navigate to it and select it, C1 should then create a TIFF file and place it in your browser while opening the NIK app with the TIFF file, you edit it in NIK, you save the file in NIK and the thumbnail in the C1 browser is updated.0 -
To work in HDR Efex, I export the images I need as TIFFs (not using the edit or open with since it's multiple files). After dragging those into HDR Efex and processing them, HDR Efex just seems to quit, but then I found out it was saving the file to my home folder (not letting me choose a location). Then I reimport that manually. So it's not as seamless as a plugin, but it's working. 0
