Now wait a minute here . . . can't you move the RAW v3 Captures to the v5 Session Capture Folder? I know the Image Settings would not work but wouldn't v5 read the v3 Captures ok?

I'm interested because we have three Capture Stations:
    1.) Dual 2.5GHz PowerPC G5 with C1 Pro v3.7.9
    2.) Intel iMac 24" with C1 Pro v5.1.1
    3.) Intel iMac 27" with C1 Pro v5.1.1

Is it true I can't run C1 Pro v5 on the PPC G5? If that's so, how can I merge all Sessions into one Session on a Retouching Station?

All (I use this term loosely) raw converters leave the raw file untouched so files captured to V3 will be readable in V5 but tagging settings etc will not transfer over.

Should I then assume it is because the Image Settings file in v3 is not the same as in v5? AND that there is no "converter" for this change?

Unfortunately no. It is a little surprising that someone hasn't written a converter for even just the basic settings like white balance, contrast, brightness. Prob' not sharpening. If you look at a plist and a cos for the same file you can see that alot of the setting could be transposed with a bit of math and time. It might not be 100% accurate but could get you close.

    Anyone interested

Right, Rick! Maybe some of your buddies at macscripter could whip one up. But it would be best to have Phase One do it so everyone that has been a loyal follower using Capture One v3 for all these years can update their Sessions to the latest version of C1 Pro v5. It's a moral obligation, right? Maybe not a moral, but a responsible choice for them, right? You'd think it would be a snap for them.

BTW, is your business as DigiTech doing well? I like your 'Apps'.

Yeah its more a python task I think and it is surprising that Phase chose not to create a converter but thats life, I cant criticize them too much coz they have helped so much by allowing old LEAF files to be read in C1 so well. I wonder if it was a licensing thing, as I understand apple wrote alot on the voodoo involved in those plist files not sure. It may be that there is no way to convert all settings.

The company is going along very well at the moment (touch wood) the GFC didn't seem to hit us down here as badly as it did the North. Though that hasn't shielded me and the local industry in general from the pressures of decreasing production budgets. Luckily I have a few biggish clients that have recognized that not having good digital tech on board can cost a hell of a lot more in post 😉 The Apps that I have available for download are small fraction and/or simplified versions of my customized workflow but I cant give away every thing 😊

    Thanx, _rap_

I agree acquiring Leaf was a smooth move.
I guess PhaseOne values reading their new acquisition's image files over it's loyal legacy customer images.
It's probably more difficult to write than the demand for it.

I just thought I'd put the query out there in case someone had made it already.
