Video EXIF for date tokens
Hi, This is my first post. I'm a long time Lightroom user and because of the "innovative" commercial Adobe Policy, I'm looking for a new software for basic catalogging and good RAW conversion. I'm trying and testing C1P since 1 week. So far so good, I'm really impressed, up to the point that I would come back to Lightroom only with a high reluctance. I'm actually about to switch but I have only one issue which is so important to me that it would me prevent to do so.
From time to time, I use to push the record video button of my cam. And I'd like to import the resulting video clips at the same time I import everything else. Beside, I store files in a [YEAR]\[MONTH]\[DAY]\[FILENAME] folder structure and I want to continue to do so. Tokens are my friend and it is OK for stills. But as far as I can tell, C1P is not able to retreive the capture time in the EXIF info, so I end up with "EmptyName" folders and subfolders for my video files. Is there a solution ?
I'm running Windows 8.1 up to date, Media Player Installed. Exiftool can fond the capture time in many fields, so the files seem to be OK. Sample :
This is a .mov file, but .mts don't work better.

I contacted Phase One support and they answered very quickly : HI
The support of video is very basic and it does not run through our imagecore.
Instead we use Quicktime/Media Player in order to see and detct videos.
So in this case there is no solution for the lack of getting time stamps, at least for now etc.
Kind regards
Phase One support
So, I think that there is no way to import video files and sort them by date on the hard drive.
I really wish I could switch to Capture One but unfortunately, it won't be possible and I'm stucked with LR and its now aging raw engine (C1P is really in a different league). It's really a pitty because retreiving EXIF data is not a tricky thing and event the Windows Explorer displays the capture date properly.0 -
Hi temperdu,
unfortunately, correct time sorting of video files is still not implemented. Very annoying, considering the little effort from a developer perspective.
Cheers,
Hanz
