To start, switch off the update check in the Preferences, Update tab. You'll find the preferences in the Edit menu. Set the Automatically Check to Never.

I would not regard crashing as a common problem and difficult to diagnose when you just started using it. See if it works for you without the update check. If crashes continue, you'll best open a support case with Phase One from their web site.

I can change it to never but won't let me save the options as it crashes before I have a chance.

Try running it as "Run as Administrator" once. See if that fixes it.

It is a wild guess but it sounds like a Windows permissions issue. In plain English, the folder Capture One likes to write to does not have the right permission (should be full control). Just a guess of course. And in addition to that, Capture One does not handle the issue very elegantly.

If you contact support, they will probably ask you to send in the crash log, so they can analyze it more detailed.

Sounds like a good idea to me too, Spike!
