Media Pro 1.3.2 reddish color rendition
hi everyone,
I have been a user of lightroom, and capture one for a long time. I have downloaded a trial of Media Pro, and imported some 4000 photos in order to play and see if it is good enough and change from lighroom+capture one, to media pro+capture one. The good part, it took all the keyworks from lightroom.
The very bad part is that the color rendition is not the same, that is to say, the same image (f.e. a portrait) in capture one and in media pro is not the same!!!! in media pro it is reddish,
, I have tried with differente preferences (both apple and phase one) but nothing.... I have checked both CR2 files from my old Canon 5D and also Cr2 file from a canon 5D3.
see a link of what I am saying

any help will be welcomed

Hi,
I'm no more using C1 or MP (to much Bugs for me).
This image - you have changed it with Capture One or is this OOC?
What do you can try is - change anything in Capture One on this image, then back to Media Pro and select "Annotations synchronize". You need for this Phase One as Rendering Engine.

I have tried all those things,
@tried from scratch, deleting the xmp side file. and opening a session in C1, then "add selected images to media pro catalog"
@tried also changing in C1 and action sync annotations (with P1 engine as preferred)
I think it will be something I am doing wrong, as if this is how it renders, it is USELESS in my opinion.
any help will be welcomed
best regards0 -
Is everything saved and shown in sRGB ? 0 -
no, if I am not wrong, I always use Adobe RGB pn the camera as it is a wider colorspace

I am not too sure why you see colour differences, but to show your edits from C1 into MP, you certainly need to select the edited images and choose Action - Rebuild item from the menu (on a Mac), or Command+B on a Mac (probably CTRL+B on windows). 0 -

I also tried with Tiff files and jpg files and the same issue

No, i'm using Nikon.
I am not seeing the problems you say you see, but then again, i may not be looking that closely. I do only generate my derivative files from C1 though, not from MP.0 -
Since you are shooting in raw, it shouldn't matter how you set you camera.
How is your color match box checked in the preferences.
Per the help file:
Media Pro gives you color-accurate display in all views (List, Thumbnail, Media, Light Table and Slide Shows) by using Windows Image Color Management (ICM), a color management technology.
To turn off color profile matching
On the Edit menu, point to Preferences, and then click Media Rendering.
Click the Images tab, and then clear the Color match check box.
To assign profiles to a group of files
On the Images tab, select the Color match check box.
Select a group of images, and then, on the Action menu, click Manage Color Profiles.
Select a color profile to embed for each type of image color space (RGB, CMYK, or Gray). This prevents you from embedding an inappropriate profile that could potentially ruin the image. The options in each menu are defined by ICM.
Click OK.
While embedding the profiles in the original files, Media Pro creates a new thumbnail for each image according to the new embedded color profile.
You can also remove profiles from a group of files in this dialog box by selecting Remove Embedded Profile for each image color space.0 -
hello Jim,
I tried all that too, not any success, however, there is one thing that could give a clue as the color rendition in preview (I am using Mountain Lion) is the same.
So, If I correct the preview on OS I might correct it also in MP
any idea how to do it?0 -

Not anymore. I have been a pc user for too long. ☹️
You can see in another post that I have that I can't get the newest MP to work properly on a new Windows 7 laptop.
It won't recognize .psd files.

NOT any success......
this is unbelievable..... i do not know what is happening....0 -
If I were you, I'd try an experiment.
I'd make my CO processed file a sRGB and see if it looks the same in MP.
A part of me says that it will.

no success........ 0 -
If you are using the previews to view them then they will be some descrepincy as the previews are in the srgb colour space, unticking the preview box should see Adobe rgb images display correctly,
Not ideal as ideally MP should convert to srgb when producing the previews.0 -

Paul, thanks for your comments, what do you mean with unticking the preview box? where do you say???
looking forward to hearing from you very soon
thanks in the meantime0 -
hey Paul,
within Edit-->thumbnail & preview --> unticked the preview option ---> it took around 10 secs to show the image with the same reddish colors
then in C1, procesed the same file as tiff and srgb, and add image to media pro catalog -- the same reddish results
........ I am starting to give up.......
none of you has this problem?????0 -
it is very strange.....
I have installed the MP and C1 in my MacBook Pro, and everything is correctly rendered..... no differences.
Then copied all the settings, identically..... but again reddish colors on my MAC PRO + NEC (just on the MEDIA PRO software, not on the others, not in C1, not in LR, not in IDI, not in ACDSEE)
anyhelp will be very very much appreciated0 -
Weird. Since you're testing various software programs, I'd be curious to know if you see the same problem with Media Pro's predecessor, Expression Media. You can download a copy from the Phase One archive. If the image looks good with EM on your Mac Pro, then at least that might prove that the problem is related to a change made to the software by Phase One. 0 -

Thanks Syncrasy
Well, the image in EM is in between the good one (C1) and the worst one (MP). It seems to me like the MP and EM are not reading the embedded color information on the file.
I am using a calibrated NEC Spectraview as screen for the Mac Pro ( Mountain lion) and get different colour results. However when I do the same test in my Macbook Pro (also Mountain lion) both with same configurations, both with same files, the MP color rendition is much more closer...... to the one on the C1.
I do not know what can be... the reason. The thing is that my main computer / screen system is the one on the Mac Pro + Nec and having this color rendition makes the software unusable.
any comment will be very much appreciated0 -
Phase ONE guys were able to replicate the issue in their lab, so I am waiting their feedback 0 -
While i'm not (at all) a technical guy, nor do i know that much about colour management, to me this sounds like double colour management.
The people at P1 will figure it out and then we'll see the update 😄0 -
Was this ever resolved?
I am having the exact same problem
Also using a NEC Spectraview monitor, mountain Lion.
Anything opened outside of Media Pro looks fine. That is unless MP processes it. So if I email a photo from MP, it renders it incorrectly (reddish)
If the photo is processed in C1 and imported into MP, the color looks fine. Its just the RAW files that are screwy.0 -
Same Problem here. Nikon Raw Files looking different in Media Pro as in C1. Too much Saturation, too much red.
Tried different settings and rebuilding of previews. no Success. any Idea?0 -

I have a support case open. They have been trying to get it resolved but we aren't having much luck.
I went as far as duplicating their settings and still a no go.
What is your equipment list?: Computer,OS, monitor?
I'm trying to find a pattern.0 -
Hi, thanks for your feedback. I upgraded both PhaseOne Applications today:
CaptureOne 7.1.3 and MediaPro 1.4.
Everything's fine for the Moment. Maybe you try this too. Good luck0 -
Thanks, I just deleted everything and tried another install. Still no go. 0
