No, you're not missing something. This function is currently not implemented in C1, we've had this discussion before.

Interesting to see that LR as well as DXO have something similar to Apertures "M" hotkey. So it's not just us old grumpy Aperture-Defectors who are trying to turn C1 into Aperture 4.0.... 😉

Seriouly: file a feature request via Phase Ones support website. The more people do this, the more likely we will get it in the future.

Thanks Mike, I should've searched for similar questions... I guess it seems to be such an obvious feature that I thought I was simply missing it ("Phase One couldn't have possibly *not* included an easy before/after hotkey...")

It's not really missing major features/functions that kill an app for me, but simple things like this that make me grumpy. Capture One certainly lives up to its name -- I can tell by using it that its legacy is tethering and capturing images and not necessarily curating, comparing and editing. Hopefully PO can get up to speed. 😊

am I missing a simple keystroke here in my workflow?

Yes you are. Also something that, in my opinion, is a lot more useful than a basic before/after key.

Try the F7 key (or whatever the Mac equivalent is if it's different to Windows) and then the left/right arrow key to toggle between your edit and the original.

I'm assuming you want the original RAW edit here, not the out of camera jpg rendition.

    HTH.

Count me in for a "M" like shortcut.

Meanwhile i have started using the CMD+R (Reset all adjustments) and CMD-Z (Undo) as a before/after, works quite well,
but and single shortcut, would be better 😉

...and then you have have to remember to delete the new variant again. Lots of keystrokes for a pretty simple operation. And by actually generating a new variant every single time, you end up fragmenting the database more and more, because you are creating actual DATA instead of a simple in-memory operation like the "M" key in Aperture or whatever key ALL THE OTHER TOOLS USE. 😕

While i don't see the benefits of the before/after comparison, if all of you want it, i'm sure Phase One will respond to all of the logged feature requests.

In my most recent blog to date, I described all options of temporarily reset in CO8 (that I am aware of). In case you're interested, check the "Reset Yes Or No?" section. The link:
